Melbourne Festival presents ARTISTS IN CONVERSATION The Artists in Conversation lunchtime series invites audiences to get up close and personal with some of the Festival’s biggest names as they discuss the trials, rewards and craft of creating art on the world stage. These are the cream of the crop – the most distinguished artists presenting the most extraordinary work in the Festival. Bringing together directors, performers, writers, choreographers and visual artists, each session sees invited artists matched with a luminary in their field from ABC Radio National for an hour of incisive debate, passionate questioning and revealing conversation. Free, intimate and unfiltered, this revealing series of talks offers a whole new angle on the Festival. ANOUK VAN DIJK COMPLEXITY OF BELONGING – Sun 12 Oct at 1pm Having collaborated on and off for 15 years, these two European luminaries of the dance and theatre worlds discuss the process of working across art forms. ROSLYN OADES HELLO, GOODBYE &HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Wed 15 Oct at 1pm This Australian theatre maker talks about the process of creating her most recent work and discusses her signature headphone-‐ verbatim technique. TREVOR JAMIESON HIPBONE STICKING OUT – Thu 16 Oct at 1pm The Director of Big hART and the lead in Hipbone Sticking Out talk about the process of driving change though art. CLINT MANSELL -‐ Fri 17 Oct at 1pm This legendary film score composer talks about the challenges of creating soundtracks for films such as Requiem for a Dream, Noah, Moon and Black Swan.
