What will you be doing?
Learn how your voice works by taking part in a vocal workshop with one of the
country’s leading a cappella groups. Enjoy learning a selection of choral pieces.
This fun afternoon will include warm up games, technique exercises and
improvisation techniques before taking part in an up-beat performance –
guaranteed fun for the afternoon! Schools are welcome to prepare a piece in
advance and bring it to the workshop to work on with Apollo 5. This will then
be incorporated into the end of day concert. Please email John Padley if you
would like to do this - [email protected]
Apollo 5 are a British a cappella
ensemble formed in 2010 who have
been praised for eye-catching
performances. The group performs a
wide-ranging repertoire of retro
jazz, pop, classical and Christmas
a cappella. The five young
professional singers give engaging
and entertaining performances for
audiences at festivals, private parties,
corporate events and on the concert
platform. Apollo 5 is ‘Ensemble in
Residence’ with Surrey Arts and was
honoured to headline the sold out
celebration concert at the Royal
Albert Hall in May 2012.

Who should join the day?
Pupils, choirs and classes with an interest in music and singing. No preparation is
required. You don’t need to be the next Leona Lewis but just be willing to learn
more, and have fun at the same time!
A bit about the hosts
The music festival will be led by the Queen Anne’s music department and
international award-winning Apollo 5. Queen Anne’s music scholars will also be
on hand to join in.
