Watercolour Landscapes
Jim Danino
This lively full day course will take a novice or
somewhat experienced watercolourist through two
activities. First, a chance to experience the 12 basic
watercolour techniques and second, to choose between four different projects. We will use step-bystep demonstrations, tips and tricks, and one-onone coaching as needed to guide you towards a
final painting. All materials are supplied but participants may bring their own brushes and palettes
if they wish. Why not bring a lunch and get a little
extra work time? Ages 16+
This workshop will introduce you to the process of
basic handbuilding methods of slabwork and the
ancient techniques of coiling. Materials will be
provided and pieces bisque fired by instructor.
Please bring a bag lunch and wear comfortable
clothing (ie. old shirt or apron). Come and create
your own mask or sun for your garden, make a
unique flower vase or build a figurine. The possibilities are endless—have fun, free your imagination and let your muddy hands do the work! Ages

In this workshop you’ll spend an evening learning
to make balloon sculptures, a talent we’ve all
wished we had at one time or another. Skills
learned in this course will teach you how to make
projects from flowers to animals, and carry on to
try out your own creations. Ages 14+
Thursday July 10, 7–9 pm, $15
At the Viscount Cultural Centre.
The Manitoba Holiday Festival of the Arts owes
its beginning to Gissur Eliasson of the School
of Fine Arts at the University of Manitoba. He
recognized a lack of Art opportunities available
for the creative individual and started a
“Painting in the Park” program . With the help
of the Neepawa Chamber of Commerce, the
Neepawa Fine Arts Festival, Neepawa Collegiate Institute Staff and others, the foundations
of the Festival were laid. The Festival has
grown to include the literary and performing
arts as well as various crafts.
Canteen will be available during the week in
the HMK lunchroom, provided by Shop Easy
Grocery. Menu and prices will be available
closer to the festival dates.
Come out for the festival BBQ
on Wednesday evening, July 9,
for food, games and fun!
Great instruction, small class
sizes, something for all ages in a
fun, friendly atmosphere

Life is a Book
Stacey Silverthorn
There are no limits to a child’s imagination and
books are the best way to open a world of possibilities! We will be exploring the theme that life is
like a book and each story is unique. Discover exciting things about yourself as we travel through
books to explore new worlds as well as our own.
We will discover what makes each of our stories
special while creating artistic responses to high
quality literature. Each day all age groups will be
able to express something interesting about themselves using a variety of everyday materials that
they will turn into keepsakes to hold on to for a
lifetime!
Cheryl Beaumont
Everyone has basic needs. Everyone self regulates
throughout the day to feel just right (not too excited
and not too lethargic). By meeting our needs we can
feel attentive and focused. Let’s learn the art of
knowing ourselves through creating, drawing, science experiments, enjoying nature and yoga
stretches.
