LNCQ Annual Holiday Potluck and General Meeting – December 1, 2014
We will not have the traditional Show and Tell presentation at our December 1st meeting, instead, we ask
anyone wishing to bring items for the silent auction, bring them between 5:30pm – 6:00pm to the lobby tables.
Here is the schedule of events.
Silent Auction: 6:00pm
Potluck Dinner: 6:30pm
Business Meeting: 7:15pm
Evening Program – Our Founding Mothers: 7:30pm
December Program – ‘Our Founding Mothers’
‘Our Founding Mothers’ will be presented at our December meeting with Maxine
Tamlin moderating this wonderfully informative program about the founding of
our guild. Charter members will provide insight and untold history of the early
years of LNCQ. Come hear the background stories (these were never found in the
minutes!), funny moments and how LNCQ went from an idea of a small group of
quilters to the exciting guild it is today.
Silent Auction
We ask anyone wishing to bring items for the silent auction, to bring them
between 5:30pm – 6:00pm to the lobby tables. Handmade Christmas decorations
are also sought for the auction, bring one or bring many and show your holiday
cheer. This is a great time to pick up that last minute gift before the holidays!
Please see Shirley Christian with your items.

Silent Auction (continued)
The centerpiece of our Silent Auction will be a pair of twin
sized purple Iris quilts. They are handmade, stylish and oh so
beautiful! Bids can be made on just one quilt or on both quilts.
There will be a minimum bid established for each of the quilts.
Bring your checkbook or cash. Some lucky person(s) will win
the auction bid and take these beauties home.
It’s Time to Renew Your LNCQ Membership for 2015
The membership form is included in this Newsletter. Bring it to the December meeting—save a stamp!! The membership
renewal form is also on our website:
http://www.lncq.org/files/form_membership.pdf
Membership is available throughout the year. However, to be included in the membership roster dues need to be paid
by Dec. 31st.
Membership in LNCQ is $25.00 annually (Jan - Dec). This entitles you to:





Attend the meetings
Enroll at membership prices in workshops and classes
Receive the newsletter electronically
To be eligible to attend our very popular Spring Retreat
Should you wish a paper copy mailed to you, an additional fee of $5.00 needs to be added to the membership
fee. ($25 + $5 = $30)
LNCQ Annual Spring Retreat
What can I say? The Retreat takes a long time to
plan and your co-chairs have been very busy bees
putting together a schedule, contacting folks and
gathering prizes for a great retreat.
Only guild members can sign up to go to our
Cheyenne Retreat. You have a very small but super important item to do ASAP, fill out your LNCQ membership renewal
and turn it in by December 31st!!
We will be checking to make sure everyone who signs up for the retreat is indeed a member. By having your
membership renewed before the February meeting, you name will already be on the membership roster, making our job
so much easier. That means we will have more time to devote to the fun things we love to do at the Retreat, if you are
on the list.

A Message from Our Co-Presidents
Treasurers Report
It seems like this past year has gone so quickly we can hardly
believe that our next meeting will take place in December. What
a wonderful program we have scheduled.
We will have a potluck supper so bring your favorite dish to
share. There will be a silent auction. The two beautiful quilts that
were donated to LNCQ will be in the silent auction. We are
asking the membership to also bring other items and Christmas
decorations for the silent auction.
The highlight of the evening will be a program which includes
interviewing the founding “mothers” of our great League of
Northern Colorado Quilters. They will enlighten us about how we
came to be. The Charter members will also be recognized. We
thank them all for what they have done and continue to do for
our organization.
A slate of officer’s will be presented at the December meeting.
Further nominations may be made from the floor, provided the
nominee is present or has given written consent to serve if
elected.
We also want to take this opportunity to say thank you to
everyone who has served on the Board or volunteered to help in
any way this year. It is because of these people that LNCQ can
continue to exist. We truly appreciate each and every one of you
and the effort you have put into keeping LNCQ going.

Counting the Benefits of Giving Cash
On October 18th we had a “Sew Day” at the Ranch. I would
like to thank Susan Rowland and Sonja Richardson for
attending. The three of us managed to sandwich quite a few
quilts. I would also like to thank my husband, Robert
Sawyer, for helping me all these years setting up for “Sew
Day” and coming back this time to help me load the van.
Please wish Cathy Parker a speedy recovery from her broken
wrist; I know she wanted to attend Sew Day as well.
So far this year we have given 47 quilts to Child Safe, 53 to
Foster Care and 17 to Project Linus.
When you make an outright contribution to LNCQ—a
donation you immediately impart—we both benefit.
Your generosity enables us to meet our most urgent
needs and carry out our mission on a daily basis. Your
benefits include:
 The ability to choose how your gift is used.
 The opportunity to see the results of your
generosity.
An immediate charitable deduction on your income
taxes.
Any donation to LNCQ is tax deductible. You can find
the form on the LNCQ web site at
http://lncq.org/forms.html
Our next “Sew Day” is scheduled for January 10th. Please
put this date on your calendar and plan to attend.
