It is our pleasure and honour to invite you to the 2014 edition of the EHEDG World Congress on Hygienic
Engineering & Design.
The European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group is aiming to create a central, internationally recognized
source of excellence by imparting knowledge on hygienic engineering of equipment and by specifying best
practices in respect to their hygienic operation, supply and maintenance. Hygienic Design becomes increasingly
important in conjunction with food safety and product liability. The optimization of cleaning processes and
cleanability, material traceability, process integration and guidance in how to follow the existing requirements
and standards are in the focus of interest of equipment manufacturers and food producers.
The congress aims at sharing our know-how and at raising the awareness of EHEDG on a global scale. The
event is designed to create and strengthen the international network in the field of Hygienic Engineering &
Design and to learn about new approaches and current trends.

Target Groups:
The congress is open to all EHEDG members and other interested persons from the relevant food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries. The event addresses the international CEOs, decision makers and experts
from companies involved in the manufacturing of food and food equipment, professionals from companies
supplying engineering services as well as quality managers responsible for food safety control. Scientists,
governmental officials and NGO representatives working in the fields of hygienic engineering and design, food
production, food processing, food quality and safety, innovative technologies, new trends in food safety,
disinfectants and sanitizers are also encouraged to participate same as NGOs and association representatives.

Time Schedule:
The congress will offer an all-day lecture programme both on 30 and 31 October as well as a One-to-One
business meetings event on the second congress day.
Congress Programme:
Internationally recognized EHEDG speakers will present on their field of expertise in Hygienic Engineering &
Design, on Food Quality, Food Safety and Food Technology Aspects. The delegates will learn about the added
values and benefits by adopting EHEDG know-how and will gain an insight how to meet hygienic design issues
in their daily work life. The congress programme will focus on expert presentations and discussion of scientific

Topics:
The delegates will have opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the principles, key learning points and
solutions in hygienic engineering & design as well as in the fields of food safety and food technology. A variety of
topics will be centred around the following clusters, all presented by high-level international EHEDG experts in
these subject areas:
Hygienic design of equipment for the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries  Hygienic design
of food factories and utilities  New trends in hygienic design  Materials in contact with the product.
Lectures will be held in either English or Italian language with simultaneous translation.

Travelling Information:
All travelling information can be found on http://www.ehedg-congress.org/index.php?nr=50&lang=en. From 27 to 31
October, Fiere di Parma will offer complimentary bus shuttle services from the international airports of Bologna (BLQ)
and Milan (LIN) and (MXP). Driving time is about 60 to 90 minutes. From Italy, Parma is very well connected by train and
highways. If arriving by flight, early booking is recommended to benefit from favourable flight fares.
Visa Information:
Citizens from EU countries and most other European nations do not need visa to travel to Italy. In case of doubt,
participants from other countries are asked to contact their consulate.

EHEDG Plenary Meeting:
On 29 October 2014 (pre-congress day), EHEDG invites its Chairmen and Executive Committee Members to
attend the annual EHEDG Plenary Meeting in the premises of Fiere di Parma (EHEDG congress hall). All
Chairmen are kindly requested to schedule their participation on this day. Furthermore, Regional Chairmen are
asked to also attend train-the-trainers course on 27 and 28 October. Separate invitations to all congress
speakers and EHEDG delegates will follow soon.
