DVA Invites You to Learn More about our Organization We have had 5 years of success and are looking to continue this trend for the 2013-‐2014 club seasons. Our Club offers the most well rounded club experience possible in the area. We have a Director of Sports Medicine , are the only club in Delaware with several full time staff members, and offer the most comprehensive volleyball training plan and competition schedule possible. Our goal is to give our members a quality and memorable experience both on and off the volleyball court. Picking a club is a difficult decision to make and, at DVA, we feel the best way to make this choice is to have as much information as possible about our organization. !
!
As a way of getting to know us here at DVA, we have made a list of suggestions that may help: 1. Attend a Parent Information Meeting. 2. Review our program guides. These guides contain information on practices times, tournaments dates, program cost, staff, travel services, additional programs offered, and more . We offer this information so that you are able to compare our level of service with other organizations in our area. 3. Come to a clinic, position specific training session, or camp. !
4. Come see us at tryouts. We are excited to meet you and look forward to getting to know you better. Please feel free to stop by any of our events to see what we are about. You can also send us an email at [email protected], reach us by phone 302-‐464-‐ 0257 or set up an appointment to meet with us. !

2013-‐2014 Club Training Program At DVA we pride ourselves on our training programs. We feel we provide the best coaching/training possible. Our academy style training allows our players to work with all of our coaches. We train our staff extensively in our coaching methods. The result of this collaborative effort is a winning formula for success that enables us to achieve balanced and effective training at all levels. !
DVA Fundamentals -‐ This is a program that all of our players go through to learn and to reinforce the basics of ball control. This is a proven program written by Bai Qing Liu (Technical Director) and used during his years of training at the Shanghai Sport School. !
Academy Style Training -‐ During at least one practice over the course of a week, our teams will be training together. This will allow our athletes to work with a number of different coaches at a given practice. We feel this gives our athletes a well rounded training experience and unifies the club. !
Individual Team Practice -‐ This is time that we set aside in our training schedule. It allows our coaches to work with their individual teams on strategies and skills that they need to prepare them for competition. A typical team practice will go from 2 hours to 2 ½ hours. This will include our PACT program and individual position training. !
PACT (Power, Agility, Core Training) -‐ This is a Program written by our Director of Sports Medicine, Wally List. This is a functional training based program that helps with injury prevention, speed, agility, power, and endurance. The program is specifically written for our athletes at DVA. !
!
!
Position Training-‐ This program offers our more experienced staff a chance to break down the fundamentals. DVA School of Player Education -‐ Educating student-‐athletes in the areas of health, nutrition, hydration, overall fitness, and injury prevention is essential to improving general physical conditioning and overall athletic performance. College Placement Program-‐ We instruct our athletes at DVA on many different topics regarding the recruiting process. Lorena Gray (New College Coordinator) will be overseeing our college recruiting program. We offer help in the areas of writing letters/emails, how to gauge interest, time line of events, etc. !
!
Optional Instruction Opportunities !
!
!
!!
At Home Conditioning Program -‐ Program written by Wally List (Sports Medicine Director) that athletes are required to do on non-‐practice days. DVA Hitting Academy-‐ This is a 4 week program that works on the fundamentals of hitting. Athletes will work on arm swing, placement, and different tempos of sets. DVA Setting Academy-‐ This is a 4 week program that works on getting the athlete a high touch count, strategy of the setting position, visual acuity and skill work for setters of all levels. This is a tuition based program and is open to everyone. DVA Defensive Academy -‐ This is a 4 week program that works on getting the athlete a high touch count, defensive positioning, posture and skill work for diggers of all levels. This is a tuition based program and is open to everyone. Camps and Clinics-‐ Offered throughout the year. These programs vary greatly in skills and position training. All clinics and camps are optional and open to everyone. !
!
Private and Semi Private Instruction – Athletes seeking additional assistance can choose to arrange private sessions with anyone on our coaching staff. College Skills Video-‐ These are video tapes made by request of the individual athlete with to prepare a skills and game footage tape to send to college coaches. ***This informa-on is subject to change at the desecra-on of the DVA Management Board 4
2013 -‐ 2014 Club Uniform Package In an effort to keep the costs down, we have come up with a system that will help save our members money. 1.We have mandatory pieces of the uniform package that must be purchased through our apparel dealer, Quest for Excellence. 2.We are in the 3rd year of a cost-‐saving uniform package purchasing system . This system allows our returning members the option of re-‐using uniform/package pieces that do not need to be replaced from their previous year. At the end of this season, we will evaluate the condition of overall uniform wear and tear within the club member population and determine if we will/will not be extending the purchasing system for another year. 3.Individual athletes may need to replace uniform items before the allotted timeframe is reached (on an “as needed” basis). 4.The uniform package will be different depending upon the team and the amount of travel that they do. 5.We will be acquiring uniforms that will be able to last for up to 3 years. 6.Some uniform items may need to be purchased again before the 3 year window is up or as needed. 7.Shoes will be offered through our uniform dealer. These are not required to be purchased by the student athlete. Knee pads can be any brand, but DVA requires them to be black. 8.All mandatory items are marked by an X. Team Uniform Package

• This schedule is tentative and is subject to change. •DVA will host events through the season and we will ask for volunteers to help us with these events. These range from the 96+ team MAPL event, our Ocean City event, New Years Invite, and our CHRVA and AAU single day events. •College Showcase event on March 22rd is consider a mandatory event for 15’s thru 18’s. Last year this showcase had over 160 kids and 20+ college coaches in attendance. •The 15’s, 16’s, 17‘s,18’s are considered Junior National bid teams. If these teams earn a bid at the NEQ, they will go to USAV nationals in lieu of AAU Nationals. •AAU Nationals and USAV National’s exact dates of competition are not available at this time. These tournaments are 4 days in length and will require additional travel. •Dates for the MAPL and Qualifier Tournaments are tentative. They will be updated as we receive the information. Qualifiers are 3 days in length and will require an additional day of travel. MAPL events are 2 days of competition. •School Absences-‐every effort is made to minimize the number of school days missed for travel tournaments. For planning purposes please allow 1-‐2 days missed for each qualifier that does not coincide with your student-‐athlete’s spring break. This number will vary depending on your school system’s calendar. Please refer to your own school schedule for actual number of days missed. ***This informa-on is subject to change at the desecra-on of the DVA Management Board 6
Travel Services !
For DVA to achieve its goal of playing the toughest compe--ve schedule we can, we will be required to travel outside of our region. This allows are players to play the best teams in the country, to experience different styles of play, and to get the most college coach exposure possible. Achieving team and club success requires us to do a great deal of planning and communica-ng to reach this goal. DVA has taken several steps to make this process even be\er for 2013-‐2014 season. Travel Service Goals: !
1. Keep the cost of travel down as much as possible. 2. Convenience and distance of playing loca-on with regard to playing the most compe--ve schedule possible. 3. We keep the number of tournaments requiring flights to a minimum while s-ll playing in quality events. 4. Communica-on of travel i-nerary as early as possible. 5. Keep # of days of school missed to as li\le as possible. !
We have partnered with JBS Global to bring a winning combina-on of travel experience and cost effec-ve methods to keep the travel expense as low as possible for our families. We will be using JBS Global to nego-ate our hotel blocks. JBS Global will find quality hotels at the best prices. JBS Global will not only inspect the hotels themselves, they will keep distance of venue in considera-on, travel requirements of fly away tournaments, and be able to nego-ate deals with quality hotels because of the volume of business that they do. At the -me we are wri-ng this le\er, JBS Global has already booked the hotels we will be staying at for the upcoming season. !
