Annual Belgian Thyroid Club Award Le Belgian Thyroid Club (BTC) souhaite promouvoir la recherche scientifique dans le domaine de la physiopathologie thyroïdienne par la création d’un prix annuel. De Belgian Thyroid Club (BTC) wil het wetenschappelijk onderzoek in het domein van de schildklier bevorderen door het uitloven van een jaarlijkse prijs. The Belgian Thyroid Club (BTC) has instituted a yearly award to promote scientific work concerning the thyroid gland. Ce prix est destiné à récompenser un travail de recherche ou publication original concernant la glande thyroïde. Le travail doit avoir été réalisé au cours des 5 dernières années précédant la candidature. Alternant une recherche clinique ou fondamentale sera rémunérée. Le jury est composé de 7 membres représentant les 7 facultés de médecine belges complètes, à savoir 1 membre par université représentée au bureau du BTC, complété par un membre par autre université, avec un intérêt scientifique thyroïdien. Deze prijs beloont een origineel onderzoekswerk of –publicatie op het gebied van de thyreoïdologie, uitgevoerd tijdens de laatste 5 jaar voor de kandidatuur. Alternerend zal een klinisch of basisonderzoek bekroond worden. De jury bestaat uit 7 leden die de 7 Belgische geneeskundefaculteiten vertegenwoordigen; meer bepaald één lid van elke universiteit vertegenwoordigt in het bestuur van de BTC, aangevuld met één lid van elke andere universiteit met een interesse in schildklieronderzoek. The price rewards an original research work or paper concerning the thyroid, performed during the last 5 years preceding the application for the award, which will be alternately given to a clinical or a basic research work. Le Prix «Belgian Thyroid Club Award» est attribuée à un(e) jeune chercheur, détenteur(trice) d’un diplôme en Médecine ou en Sciences pour sa contribution scientifique dans le domaine de la recherche thyroïdienne. Le travail doit avoir été effectué pour plus que la moitié en Belgique. 1. De «Belgian Thyroid Club Award» wordt toegekend aan een jong onderzoek(st)er, in het bezit van een universitair diploma in de geneeskunde of de wetenschappen, voor zijn/haar wetenschappelijk werk in het domein van de thyreoïdologie. Het werk moet voor meer dan de helft in België uitgevoerd zijn. 1. The «Belgian Thyroid Club Award» is awarded to a young researcher with a degree in Medicine or Sciences, for his/her scientific contribution to the field of thyroidology. The work must have been carried out for more than half in Belgium. 2. The jury is composed of 7 members, representing the 7 Belgian medical schools; namely one member of each faculty represented in the board of the BTC, supplemented by one member of each other faculty, with scientific interest in the thyroid. 4. Cette candidature doit comporter le curriculum vitae en un résumé en anglais de la contribution scientifique dont la longueur maximale est de 3 pages, références inclues. 4. Ze bestaat uit het curriculum vitae en een Engelstalige samenvatting van de wetenschappelijke bijdrage van de betrokkene, van maximaal 3 getypte bladzijden, inclusief de publicatielijst. 4. Applications must be submitted by email by October 31stat the latest. The application is composed of the curriculum vitae of the candidate and a written English summary of his/her scientific contribution, of maximum 3 typed pages, references included. 5. Le bureau du BTC réunira les membres du jury au plus tard midécembre, en vue d’examiner les candidatures. Le jury délibère même s’il ne siège pas au complet. La majorité simple des membres convoqués suffit. Si un(e) candidat(e) est un(e) collaborateur/collaboratrice direct(e) d’un membre du jury, ce membre ne peut pas participer au vote et devra être remplacé par un collègue de la même université, qui n’est pas lié au recherche du/de la candidat(e). 5. Het bureau van de BTC roept ten laatst midden december de jury samen om de kandidaturen te onderzoeken. De jury delibereert zelfs al is ze niet voltallig: een eenvoudige meerderheid van de aangeschreven leden volstaat. Indien een kandida(a)t(e) een directe medewerker is van een jurylid kan dit lid niet aan de stemming deelnemen en zal zich laten vervangen door een collega van dezelfde universiteit, die niet betrokken is bij het onderzoek van de kandida(a)t(e). 5. The board of the BTC will assemble the jury by mid December at the latest, in order to examine the candidatures. The committee deliberates even if not in full attendance. The simple majority of the convened members suffice. If a candidate is a direct collaborator of a member of the jury, this member may not participate in the vote and will be replaced by a colleague of the same university who is not involved in the scientific work of the candidate. Les candidat(e)s éligibles pourront être invité(e)s à présenter brièvement leur travail oralement devant le jury. Geschikte kandidaten kunnen uitgenodigd worden om hun werk kort mondeling aan de jury te komen voorstellen.. Eligible candidates could be invited to shortly present their work orally to the jury. 6. Un(e) seul(e) candidat(e) sera retenu(e) comme lauréat(e), sur base de 3 critères: le travail de recherche, le CV et la présentation. Le jury a le droit de ne pas attribuer le prix. Le montant du prix sera alors reporté à l’année suivante. 7. Le prix, d’un montant de 5.000 euro, sera remis au (à la) lauréat(e), lors de la réunion du printemps du BTC, par le représentant du sponsor. 8. Le (La) lauréat(e) donnera un exposé en anglais, en rapport avec le travail couronné, lors de la remise du prix. De prijs ten bedrage van 5.000 euro wordt tijdens de lentevergadering van de BTC aan de laurea(a)t(e) overhandigd, door een vertegenwoordiger van de sponsor. 8. Van de laurea(a)t(e) wordt verwacht dat hij/zij tijdens deze bijeenkomst een lezing in het Engels geeft over het werk waarvoor de onderscheiding werd toegekend. Final selection is based on 3 criteria: the research work, the CV and the presentation. The jury may choose not to assign a winner and will, in this case, transfer the amount of the award to the following year. 7. The award of 5.000 euro will be presented to the winner during the spring meeting of the BTC, by a representative from the sponsoring company. 8. At this meeting, the award winner will summarize his work in the form of an oral presentation in English.
