Randell Ward Electors,
During the last six years I have had, and would like to
continue, the privilege of representing you as one of
three Randell Ward Councillors.
When I began as a Councillor in 2000 I was unaware of
the enormity of the task ahead of me - which continues to
grow - and during the six years I have been in Council the
task, at times though still daunting, is manageable.
Councils get more and more responsibilities handed to
them by both Federal & State Governments (without
adequate compensation) they deny it is cost shifting.
Added to that, State Government, tell us we must be more
accountable, which they would never do (I believe all
levels of Government should be transparent and will
continue to ensure this Council’s accountable).
In 2007 Council’s must as part of the budget process,
hold public meetings to explain the budget process and
we will be encouraging ratepayer input.
We must all stand together to achieve what is best for the
whole of the Mid Murray Council area, which has never
been more evident in these hard times of drought, higher
fuel prices & low commodity prices. My Council
commitments to the Local Government Association have
remained the same over the last three years; I still
represent the LGA as the country representative on the,
“Supported Residential Facilities Advisory Committee”
and a “Regional Transport Committee”.
Within the local community I remain the Chairman of
Mid Murray Homes for the Aged Inc., and am still the
Co-Ordinator of the, “Mannum Big River Fishing
Competition” and am one of Council’s representatives
To the Murray Darling Association and the Murray
Watch committee.
