The Danville Family YMCA Receives Donated Basketballs
from NBA Cares to Support Physical Activity
Danville IL, May 16, 2014 – The Danville Family YMCA has received 72 new basketballs,
thanks to a donation from NBA Cares, DICK’s Sporting Goods and Spalding®. The donation
provides new basketballs to youth who participate in YBALL, Kenneth “The Manimal” Faried
Skills Camp and other various basketball clinics that will be held at the YMCA. The YMCA
programs encourage kids to be physically active, develop skills and learn sportsmanship.
“The Danville Family YMCA is thrilled to have been selected to receive this generous donation
from NBA Cares and its partners,” said Michael Brown, Executive Director of The Danville
Family YMCA. “This donations shows our youth that the NBA Cares Foundation cares about
our community. Sports is a huge part of everyday life in our society today. I really believe
that it is a huge way to impact our youth as we focus on Youth Development at The Danville
Family YMCA.”
The Danville Family YMCA has registration currently open for Kenneth “The Manimal” Faried
Skills Camp. This event will take place June 14th and the 15th at the YMCA. Participants of the
camp will learn the fundamentals of basketball and get engage with current Denver Nugget’s

The Y has been a longtime national charity partner of NBA Cares because of the organizations’
shared commitment of encouraging individuals to live healthy lifestyles. The NBA and NBA
Cares supports YMCAs across the country through partnerships with local league teams, court
refurbishments of local YMCA gyms, player visits to camps and youth sports team events.
The Danville Family YMCA is one of more than 200 Ys nationwide to receive a donation of
basketballs. This program is an extension of the NBA Cares Season of Giving activation. At
retail, the league will continue to work with all DICK’S Sporting Goods locations nationwide
and Spalding to donate basketballs to NBA Cares community partners such as the YMCA.
