For over 30 years the CLC program has been implemented and supported by the Walker Family Foundation of Long Beach California. The primary purpose of the conference is to help staff and volunteers put Christian character and principles into Y programs. It is a Christian conference that includes times of encouragement, prayer, worship and inspiration. Who should attend? The conference is open to all full time and part time Y staff and volunteers interested in deepening their relationship with God and discovering how their faith can more effectively impact their service in the Y. Where is the conference taking place? Camp Fitch is located on the shores of Lake Erie, 20 miles west of Erie, PA. Camp Fitch is one of the premier Y camps in the country, serving over 14,000 guests per year in youth, family and adult programs. The dining hall, seating 700 individuals boasts spectacular views of Lake Erie and abundant meeting space. Comfortable dorm style lodges with modern restroom and shower facilities provides excellent camp style lodging. When will it start? The conference will begin at 8 pm on Friday evening and conclude at Noon on Sunday. A confirmation with information on what to bring, check in time and preliminary detailed schedule will be sent one week prior to the conference. Will there be free time? As part of our weekend we will provide free time for recreation. Options include: Lake Erie beach hike, archery, horseback riding, rock climbing and more. This can be a great time to get refreshed through exercise or fellowship with newly formed friends. Since 1983, Doug's ministry with Athletes in Action has taken him to 39 different countries, 6 of our 7 continents, and throughout most of • the United States to share God's never changing message with an ever changing world. Listen First: This critical communication tool of listening will be explored in multiple facets and corresponds to the YMCA Listen First training. Emotional Intelligence: Emotional intelligence is the “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. This will be a book study and those interested can acquire the book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Bradbury and Graves to read in advance of this workshop. Margins – Time Management –Seems like we are all SUPER BUSY! This workshop will explore the why and the how of creating margins in our life that will contribute to our personal health and provide opportunities to be available for the unexpected. The book, “Margins” by Swensen would be a helpful read to gain more insight. Transformational Teams – We need our staff and volunteer teams to be functioning at a high level of trust, creativity and impact. This workshop will help our teams get to the next level.
