Third graders got to the core of hands-on learning with a five-part lesson
on apples. Students visited the MHS orchard to pick apples and make
apple cider. Next, they used their reading comprehension skills when they
discussed a story about Johnny Appleseed.

During math class, the students weighed the apples and performed a
calculation to figure out their cost. Afterward, they compared and
contrasted fresh apples to dried ones. Finally, they made apple crisp to
learn about teamwork, measuring and following step-by-step instructions.
From start to finish, this was one delicious lesson! Email
