Prelude
Resurrection Gospel
Matthew 28:1-10
Pastor: Christ is risen!
People: He is risen indeed!
*Processional Hymn
“Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”
Jesus Christ is ris'n today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heav'nly king, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!
But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!
Now above the sky he's king, Alleluia! Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!
Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! Praise eternal as his love; Alleluia!
Praise him, all you heav'nly host, Alleluia! Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

*Easter Litany
We thought you were dead. We thought the cross was the end. We thought that when the
stone rolled over the tomb, that was it. But this is it:
The dead are living; the cross is empty; the stone is rolled away,
and one word describes it all: Alleluia! Jesus is risen!
We thought the story was finished. We thought the hope had ended. We thought that when
the tomb was sealed, that was it. But this is it:
The story has just begun; the hope is newly born; the tomb is empty,
and one word says it all: Alleluia! Jesus is risen!
This is the news: Jesus is risen!
This is the moment: Jesus is alive!
This is the gospel: Jesus is with us!
One word says it all: Alleluia! Jesus is risen!
*Prayer of the Day
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his
glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin,
that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Hymn
“Thine Is the Glory”
#376
Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son; endless is the vict'ry thou o'er death hast won!
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes
Where thy body lay.
(Refrain) Thine is the glory, risen, conqu'ring Son;
Endless is the vict'ry thou o'er death hast won!
Lo, Jesus meets thee, risen from the tomb! Lovingly he greets thee, scatters fear and gloom;
Let his church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for the Lord now liveth;
Death hath lost its sting! (Refrain)
No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life; life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conqu'rors, through thy deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan
To thy home above. (Refrain)

Hymn
“Hallelujah! Jesus Lives!”
vs. 1 & 5 #380
Hallelujah! Jesus lives! He is now the Living One; from the gloomy halls of death
Christ, the conqueror, has gone, bright forerunner to the skies of his people, yet to rise.
Hallelujah! Angels, sing! Join with us in hymns of praise. Let your chorus swell the strain
Which our feebler voices raise: Glory to our God above and on earth his peace and love!
Sermon
“Living the Resurrection”
Pastor Kent Stillson
Hymn of the Day
“I Know That My Redeemer Lives!”
I know that my Redeemer lives! What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead; he lives, my ever-living head!
He lives triumphant from the grave; he lives eternally to save;
He lives exalted, throned above; he lives to rule his church in love.
He lives to grant me rich supply; he lives to guide me with his eye;
He lives to comfort me when faint; he lives to hear my soul's complaint.
He lives to silence all my fears; he lives to wipe away my tears;
He lives to calm my troubled heart; he lives all blessings to impart.

*Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of
the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he
descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated
at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Offering
*Offertory Response
“Christ Is Risen! Alleluia!”
vs. 1 & 4 #382
Christ is risen! Alleluia! Risen our victorious head! Sing his praises! Alleluia!
Christ is risen from the dead! Gratefully our hearts adore him as his light once more appears;
Bowing down in joy before him, rising up from griefs and tears.
(Refrain) Christ is risen! Alleluia! Risen our victorious head!
Sing his praises! Alleluia! Christ is risen from the dead!
Christ is risen! Henceforth never death or hell shall us enthrall.
We are Christ's, in him forever we have triumphed over all. All the doubting and dejection
Of our trembling hearts have ceased; hail the day of resurrection!
Let us rise and keep the feast. (Refrain)
