Vol. - VII, Issue - XIX From the Desk of Director “Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.” (Psalm 106.3) We are living in the complex realities of our world today. On the one hand there have been great advances in the areas of science and technology. On the other hand human relationships are suffering and our environment is being ignored. There is a plethora of knowledge at our disposal and yet it hasn’t been used for the betterment of humanity. There is a certain sense of confusion regarding right and wrong. Injustice is rampant due to selfishness and greed. We live in a wounded world. Recently, I was invited as a resource person to give a talk on Child Right Protection. During my visit - I discovered that many thousands of children are daily victims of injustice and unjust political structures. Despite the fact that our Government has already in place a number of laws for the protection of our children - they are still the subject of abuse and the violation of their human personhood. In today’s society we have millions of people who are victims of various kinds of unjust socio-economic and corrupt political system. There are Millions of people who are suffering from malnutrition and do not enjoy the basic ingredients to sustain life on a daily basis. Our priority here at DSDI is to assist such people. We are committed to reaching out to the most vulnerable in the areas of Health, October 2014 (For Private Circulation only) Rehabilitation, Education, and Human Development. Our vision in keeping with St. Damien of Molokai is the restoration and empowerment of broken humanity. Please come and join us here at DSDI in helping to make this a better world. God invites as well as challenges us through Zechariah 7.9: “administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.” It may not be possible to change the world alone but together we can make a difference.
