PPC checks up on important
patient care issue
PPC members Anna McGrath and Cindy Riedmiller asked
CNO Kathy Mitchell if EMTs or Paramedics were now doing
triage in the Emergency Department. This would have been of
concern if true, but the Chief Nurse assures the PPC members
that EMTs sit at the desk to make sure it is covered only if the
Triage RN is taking a patient out back. One objective of the
PPC established under the NNOC contract is to “concern itself
with standards for professional practice to Registered Nurses.”
If RNs see issues of concern, raise them with the PPC and get
them addressed. The next PPC meeting, open to RNs, is
November 12 from 12 to 3 in the HR conference room.
