SyncPORT™ Pluggable IEEE 1588 Synchronisation Solution Overview Features The CTL6100 SyncPORT™ provides PTP, slave and boundary clock functions in an SFP form-factor module that can be plugged into a suitable socket on existing network switches and routers. ▪ When used as a boundary clock, SyncPORT™ operates as both a PTP slave and master to partition a network into multiple segments improving overall PTP performance. For the highest level of performance a SyncPORT™ can be deployed at each switching or routing node in the network, or alternatively, it can be used at strategic points in the network to still provide performance improvement while limiting deployment cost. When used as a boundary clock the time-of-day output is available for local use or diagnostic functions. Full IEEE 1588-2008 functions in a SFP compliant form factor ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ Adds PTP capability to legacy equipment ▪ Saves space and cost over standalone PTP solution Compliant with G.8265.1 ▪ Compatible with any switch or router SFP socket supporting SGMII operations ▪ Front-of-module connector provides time-of-day input and outputs ▪ Powered by Semtech’s market leading ToPSync® integrated synchronisation system-on-a-chip: field proven performance DATASHEET ▪ Multiple PTP domains 802.1q VLAN tagging Power-up to usable configuration OEM product customisation for host vendor branding ▪ ▪ ▪ Unicast addressing Configurable plug-and-play mode ▪ ▪ Diagnostic monitoring Multiple options for separating traffic flows ▪ ▪ ▪ The unique multi-PLL architecture provided by Semtech's ToPSync technology allows the SyncPORT ™ to simultaneously lock to a Time-of-Day input and up to two PTP Grandmasters. This provides monitoring of multiple time sources with the ability to seamlessly switch between these sources in the event of a failure or disturbance. Reduces requirement to re-spin entire product to meet changing customer needs ▪ ▪ ▪ A connector on the front of the module provides simultaneous Time-of-Day inputs and outputs. The Time-of-Day output can be connected to equipment requiring time alignment, such as a cellular basestation, or used for diagnostic monitoring when operating as a PTP BC or slave. As an input, it can be used as an additional reference or performance measurement port. Slave and boundary clock Ideal for extending life of deployed equipment and existing product portfolios Labeling Module identification EEPROM Controllable through SGMII interface ▪ Can ease initial bring-up effort and reduce time-tomarket ▪ Third Party configuration and SNMP management option (SyncGEM™) ▪ ▪ Compatible with SFF-8431 Power Level II For EMC/EMI/ESD ▪ ▪ Telcordia GR-1089 “EMC and electrical safety” ▪ Telcordia GR-458 “Reliability Assurance for Optoelectronic devices” Telcordia GR-63 “Physical Protection Central Offices and controlled equipment” Chronos Technology Limited Stowfield House Stowfield Lydbrook Gloucestershire GL17 9PU United Kingdom www.chronos.co.uk +44 (0)1594 862200 [email protected] CTLds128 r1.2—Oct2014 CTL6100 SyncPORT™ Network Management To simplify configuration, DHCP is supported, along with automatic registration to the Chronos SyncGEM™ management server, which can then perform additional configuration. The Chronos SyncGEM™ management server can provide a standard SNMP control mechanism with a MIB defining access to the SyncPORT™ configuration. This control mechanism will operate through the data-plane or management port, with optional encryption for increased security. SyncGEM™ Management The Chronos SyncGEM™ 1200 is a lightweight standalone element manager that integrates with North-bound NMS and OSS systems. SyncGEM 500 is a software mediation controller. The key features of SyncGEM™ 1200 are as follows: DATASHEET Web based GUI Scalable architecture Easy field deployable hardware devices Comprehensive management suite designed for datacentre deployment Northbound reporting of device status, alarms and server alarms Audit logs for both user and system activity Low cost WAN PTP monitoring Remote software upgrade of connected network devices The key features of the embedded SyncGEM™ 500 are as follows: Protocol mediation function Fully defined API Enables tighter device integration into the vendors solution Equipment manufacturers who wish to embed the SyncGEM™ 500 mediation controller within their NMS/OSS can do so with support from Chronos’ Professional Services team.
