About multidrug-resistant
pulmonary tuberculosis
Multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis is a form of tuberculosis
that no longer responds to at least the two anti-tuberculosis drugs
isoniazid and rifampicin. It becomes very difficult to treat
tuberculosis and also it takes a longer period of time to treat when
these two drugs do not work.
For treatment of multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, patients
generally take four or more drugs, not including isoniazid and
rifampicin, for which efficacy can be expected in treating the disease.
It is very hard to keep taking multiple medications for a long period
in order to treat multidrug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis, but let's
not give up; you need to stay on the medication until the disease is
completely cured.
