What is the PPP?
• Alternative entry access scheme
• An opportunity to secure a place at VU based on more than a
students ATAR score
• Applications are available to all courses offered through VTAC
with the exception of Bachelor of Clinical Sciences
(Osteopathy)
• Running since 2002
• Resulting in 2,000 enrolments in higher education courses in
this time.

Alice chose to apply to VU through the
PPP, which recognised the volunteer work
she had done in my community in addition
to her ATAR score.
Whilst completing her undergraduate
degrees Alice completed a cadetship with
the Western Bulldogs, and a work
placement with Netball Australia.
Currently undertaking her PhD in
collaboration with the Australian Institute
of Sport and Netball Australia.
Who can apply for the PPP
• Year 12 students from each partnership school
• Students who are recommended by their school
• Students with a strong preference and commitment
to a specific course at VU
Who is a Partnership School
• All schools in the Western Suburbs
• A majority of schools in the Northern Metro and Hume
Regions of Victoria
• A small number of schools in the Eastern and Southern Metro
plus some schools in regional Victoria

Can my school become part of the PPP

Applications to be made in writing and cover how the school exhibits:
 A demonstrated commitment to take students from VU on a placement relevant to the
students’ studies. This might be placements as part of an Education course or a
project or placement as part of VU’s Learning in the Workplace and Community
initiative; or

A demonstrated commitment to promoting VU courses amongst the relevant cohort
of Year 12 students. This commitment may be demonstrated in a number of ways
including the number of students from the school enrolling in VU courses in recent
years.

Applications for new schools need to be in by 31st of May 2014
Changes to the PPP in 2014
• A number of changes are to come in place for 2014 in terms of
selection:

VU Foundation Degrees – ATAR of 40+, must also meet prerequisites;
IEP Diploma – ATAR of 40+, must also meet prerequisites;
Law courses – ATAR of 70+, must also meet prerequisites;
All other degrees – ATAR of 50+, must also meet prerequisites;
TAFE course – Successful completion of Year 12

Applications
• Students apply through VTAC via SEAS
• Students must include their PPP course in their VTAC preferences
in the timely application period and then complete the portfolio in
SEAS category 5.
• The online portfolio involves the completion of 2 statements:
– The students goals, both short and long term.
– The students commitments to the course and the profession.
• Students will also need to be endorsed from their school.

It is the responsibility of the student to inform the school of their application- this
shows commitment.

Schools are to endorse students only who they believe would be able to cope
with the academic workload
•
Schools are under no obligation to endorse every student who applies for the
PPP
•
A conversation should be had with students to determine their suitability for the
course
•
Schools will have the opportunity to review their endorsements at the end of
October, should only be changed in extenuating circumstances

Student Outcomes
• Students will be advised of their outcome via the
post in the second week of December
• School PPP Coordinators will be advised of the
outcome also via email.
• If students have issues these can be raised with
the PPP coordinator via [email protected]

VU sends out letters of (conditional) offer to applicants

ATAR results are released
