Issue 40.pub - Padua College

Term 4, Issue 40 - 17 December 2014
Special VCE Edition
Class of 2014
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Dear Parents & Students,
VCE - The ATAR Score
The ATAR is an overall percentile ranking, calculated in steps of 0.05, reflecting the comparative
performance of each successful VCE candidate amongst the relevant age group in the given
year. The ATAR is a nationally equivalent measure (e.g. a University Admissions Index of 95.00
in New South Wales is equivalent to an ATAR of 95.00 in Victoria).
Padua College VCE 2014 Results
I would like to congratulate the Class of 2014, their teachers and parents on many excellent
results. Seventeen students received ATAR scores greater than 90, of which 8 were above 95;
these highest being 99.35; 99.05, 98.8; 98.5; 98.45; 97.35; 96.75 and 95.1.
The 17 to achieve an ATAR greater than 90 were:
Bethany Brown, Samuel Cheers, Joshua Clark, Timothy Cooper,
Benjamin Dade, Bridget Fisher, Isabella Ford, Michael Holst, Jessica
Kerr, Darcy McCarthy, Nathaniel Mether, Kate Mililli, Simone Murphy,
Isabelle Tilley, Jack Williams, Ethan Wills and Dianaimh Yau.
In total, 46 students received scores above 80 which accounted for 20% of our VCE students
and a total of 80 students (34%) who attained an ATAR above 70.
I congratulate Ethan Wills as the College
Dux of 2014.

VCE Study Scores
Study scores are assigned out of 50. They are the standardised scores of
each particular subject. A study score of 23-37 indicates the student is in the
middle range; a score above 37 indicates the student is in the top 15% of the
cohort taking that particular study.
Congratulations to Kate Mililli, who received a perfect study score in Biology
under the guidance of her teacher, Mrs Julie Barnhoorn.
