Among 20 students who entered the Mathematics Challenge from United Kingdom, 17 got gold, two got silver and one came home with bronze. Congratulations! KNES is proud of its students. PWF hosts coffee morning P akistan Women’s Forum (PWF) arranged a much anticipated coffee morning. The day started with a fabulous demonstration of creative cupcake designing by Shereen Gadallah who explained that the cakes were in shades of pink mainly because pink is a tempting color for kids. Three young upcoming designers (Elegance Boutique, Trendy Boutique, and Miss Fashion Boutique) displayed their ready to wear pret outfits and costume jewelry for sale which was attractive enough to prompt the members to purchase a few outfits. Later, the ladies were treated to a magnificent brunch spread. The raffle was drawn and a few ladies were lucky enough to take home a prize. Overall, the afternoon proved to be a joyous occasion, where everyone had something to take home. VOICE holds comedy show in Kuwait By Ben Garcia A Stage set for ‘Shaastrotsav’ Festival of Science in Kuwait P reparations are in final stages of ‘Shaastrotsav’ - Festival of Science which will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Salmiya Indian Model School (SIMS). As in the previous years, Indian schools and many professional organizations confirmed their participation in the day-long events of Festival of Science, informed the organizers in a press meet held here. Science Workshop by Ashok Rupner, Senior Scientific Staff of Inter University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics - Pune will be a main attraction of Shaastrotsav 2014. Ashok Rupner’s workshop will stimulate inter- est in science through simple methods. He has conducted over 1,200 science activity workshops for children, teachers and parents. For four years in a row Ashok Rupner has won the most distinguished workshop award at the Sasol SciFest, Grahamstown, South Africa. Rubik’s cube-solving contest will give opportunity for students in Kuwait to show their speed and ability in solving Rubik’s cube solving. Ever since Shaastrotsav introduced this as a competition event in Kuwait for the first time, more and more children are attracted towards Rubik’s cube solving which requires mathematical ability, the organizers said. Other attractions of Shaastrotsav include science and technology exhibition and computer animation contest. “Due to the high level of interest by students, Shaastrotsav will give opportunity to more contestants in open category of science and technology exhibition than the previous years, in addition to inter - school contests”, organizers said. Science enthusiasts in Kuwait consider Shaastrotsav - Festival of Science as a premier science event for students, teachers, professionals and general public. Shaastrotsav will start at 10:00 am on April 25 and entry is unrestricted to all. comedy show featuring Hyderabad artistes Hamid Kamal and Subhani was held in Kuwait last Thursday at the American International School (AIS) in Maidan Hawally. Organized by Voluntary Organization of Indian Community Expatriates (VOICE), ‘Dedh Matwale’ is a comedy satire which focuses on situations in daily life and looks at them from a humorous perspective. Their group has huge following in India and abroad including the United States, Canada and Australia. The artists have already appeared in several Hindi and Telugu movies as well as in various television channels back in India. The comedy duo appeared in films and movies which include Lajja, Pyaar Deewana Hota Hai and Well Done Abba. The comedian also appeared in Hyderabad films such as Hungama in Dubai, Salaam Hyderabad and Charminar Boys. They recently produced their very own movies entitled: Dedh Matwale Baba and Readymade Dulha. Among comedians showcased in the ‘Dedh Matwale’ play include singers Shaik Abbas, Swathi Shaker and Noor Mariya. It also features Arshad Nawab and Habib Qadeer. The show was presented in both Hindi and Urdu. Sunil Jain, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, graced the occasion.
