Civil rights and political developments
Bahrain claims to have cracked down a Shia terrorist group. Also Iraqi ambassador was
handed over a protest against a Shia group supposedly receiving training in Iraq.
In Kuwait 13 supporters of a convicted former Member of Parliament got detained.
A Bahraini opposition leader was sentenced to four years in prison for inciting hatred
against the regime and threatening national security.
Dispute between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia over oil production in Divided Zone does not
appear to come to an end soon. Kuwait is pushing various projects to make up for loss of
production capacities.
ISIS and Yemen
There was not much news this week. Netherlands extended their military commitment in
Iraq of four F-16 fighter planes and 450 military trainers by one year.
In Bahrain explosives were seized, supposedly intended to be used in neighboring Saudi
Arabia.

Labour market
Saudi Arabia is considering a 40-hours working week and a two-day-week-end for the
private sector. Currently only public sector has a 5-day working week in the Kingdom.
Saudisation quotas are to be reviewed for certain sectors that find big difficulties in
meeting the criteria.
