Background: QUO is a new brand of electronic goods
(currently
limited
to
tablets)
being
distributed
domestically and in South America. At QUO Mobility,
the mission is to deliver world-class products and
solutions, and provide global support and development
to
their
consumers,
working
closely
with
their
partners, dealers and reseller networks to meet the
growing demand.
Issue: QUO’s Amazon Webstore, QUO Mobility, was
restricted to US customers due to the fact that all
products use FBA, which is limited to fulfillment in the
United States. QUO wanted their webstore to also
appeal to the South American market as the site also
functions as their main corporate site. The client
wanted to allow South American visitors the ability to
browse their product catalog despite not having the
ability to make purchases online. This meant that the
initial concept of creating a few stand-alone Spanish
pages was not going to fulfill the client’s needs and the

Solution: Explore investigated a solution using Bing
Translation APIs; however, this solution was not
sufficient as the translations were not accurate and the
client decided they needed 100% control to ensure
precise communications. Explore was able to architect,
build, and deliver a solution that solved the problem
for QUO. By reading text from each webpage and
retrieving the appropriate pre-populated translation for
it based on an external mapping, the client is able to
fully control which portions of the site should be
translated and which should not. Furthermore, the
custom system also offers the ability to switch images
used in the site based on language selection. This
solution can also be expanded to incorporate other
languages easily in the future.
No errors or negative repercussion on site if the
translation for a certain subset of text is not
found
Ability to have a product listing show up as 100%
English on Amazon.com while having both
Spanish and English available on the webstore
The site default language is set when English or
Spanish is selected so that when Google crawls
the site in South America, it does not trigger the
“Do you want to translate” prompt
