Safety Notes DO NOT OPERATE THE RIP SAW WITHOUT THE SAW GUARD IN PLACE. SA Woodworking machines can be dangerous if not used properly. Injuries include amputations often contributed to by missing saw guards. No personnel are to use this equipment without undergoing practical training whilst properly supervised. Kickbacks occur when a saw seizes the stock and hurls it back at the operator. This can happen when the stock twists and binds against the side of the blades or is caught in the teeth. A blade that is not sharpened, or that is set at an incorrect height, can cause kickbacks. Poor-quality timber can also result in kickbacks. Kickbacks occur more often when cutting parallel to the wood grain (ripping) than when cross-cutting DOCUMENT NO: S812.0220 Authorised by: Signature: ACTIVITY : Rip Saw Full Document Available Here: RIP SAW WORK METHOD STATEMENT REVIEW NO: © SafetyCulture All rights reserved Date: DATE: Page 2 of 9- Version 8.0 Full Document Available Here RIP SAW WORK METHOD STATEMENT Task Breakdown Possible Safety or Environmental Hazards RB Control Measures to Reduce risk RA Responsible Officer Operators requirements 2M Legislation breach Training: Should include: Safe work procedures.
