of woodturning. There is no critiquing unless you ask for it. ALSO, it
was requested by a member, that people bring to the gallery their mistakes, blow ups, and wall bangers, and to explain what happened to cause
the mishap. This can be of benefit not only to new turners, but some of us
veteran turners too.
There wasn't enough wood for a raffle....PLEASE bring wood for the raffle. Like myself, everyone has wood going to waste that we can't get to to
turn. Let someone else benefit from this wood, and help the club out too.
New turners are always needing a place to get wood, and the best place is
the WOOD RAFFLE.
And last up for the day was Andy Leonard demoing how to make those
beautiful bangles. What great Christmas gifts and wife warmers these
items could be. See details below of his demo.
See you in December....come out and vote, bring gallery items, bring
wood for the raffle.
And remember.....

YOUR ASSISTANCE helps our EFFICIENCY
YOUR PRESENCE makes our CLUB

Turning Bangles with
Andy Leonard
Andy Leonard showed step by step how
he makes his bracelets. Andy gets his
blanks and core bracelet steel (and copper) from the www.bangleguy.com .
While the bangle guy website contains
lots of information (videos, FAQ) on
making the bracelets, Any has developed some of his own best practices on
how to effectively hold the wood in the
chuck to successfully turn the shape
needed to fit the metal core.

The winners of the drawing for a chance at
a scholarship to either Arrowmont or John
C. Campbell are: Skipper Munson and Rick
Myers, with Lucien Jarreau as an alternate.
Good luck to all of them.
Joe Kelly, Eddie Castelin (currently in rehab after surgery), and Johnny Green are
currently experiencing serious health issues.
Let's keep them in our thoughts and our
prayers.
Nominations for next year's club officers
have been approved. They are: for president. Jim Creel ; for vice president, Larry
Pickering and Skipper Munson ; for Secretary, Dennis Wall ; for treasurer, Ron
D'Aunoy; for board of directors, Joel
Blazek, Johnny Green, John Byl, Gorst
Duplessis, Rick Meyers and Andy Leonard.
Remember, nominations are not closed until
next month when we actually vote.
We are trying to get Rudy Lopez and Scott
Hacker as guest turners for next year. We'll
let you know the dates when they are settled.
Jim Creel is bound for South America soon,
and one of the things he's going to show the
folks down there how to make is finger
tops. Jim would appreciate some tops made
by club members to show them.

We have a new Facebook page
BAYOU WOODTURNERS. This is
a group Facebook page for active
members of Bayou Woodturners
who like to use Facebook. This is a
private account that is only viewable by members that ask to join and
not a public page. We would hope
that members would use it to post
pictures of pieces they are working
on, questions about problems you
are having with finishes, design, etc.
This is a great place to let other
members know about trees being
cut down, events from other clubs
and other woodturning related subjects. Along with our Newsletter
and website this addition to Bayou
Woodturners allows an interactive
forum for a variety of subjects. All
you have to do to join is to lookup
Bayou Woodturners and ask to
join, you will be accepted and have
full access to viewing and posting to
the Facebook page. As a group site
everyone in the group can post to
the site at any time, so let’s see what
you are working on, what problems
you are having and let us know
when your neighbor is cutting down
that tree.
