Negotiations ongoing and will hopefully achieve a coordinated project linked to COSD data collection. o BGCS Commissioning Subgroup o Andy Nordin o Tariffs & Profitability of Gynae Oncology Services o Rob Gornall FIVE MINUTE UPDATES SESSION o SHAPE trial: simple vs radical hysterectomy in early stage cervical cancer o John Tidy • John updated the group on the SHAPE trial to assess simple hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy vs radical hysterectomy for early stage cervical cancer. o Update on Gynae Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) project o Nick Wood / Andy Nordin • Nick & Andy updated the group on the Gynae Cancer PROMS pilot, which will send a generic gynae cancer PROM to 1250 cervical, uterine and ovarian cancer patients, with funding from NHS England. o Update on NICE Review of IOG – low risk endometrial cancers o Andy Nordin • Andy reported that there does not appear to have been any further developments from NICE on the low risk endometrial cancer review. o 2013 FIGO Staging system: ovarian, tubal & peritoneal cancers o Andy Nordin • Andy reminded the group of the FIGO(2013) staging system for ovarian, tubal and peritoneal cancers that were implemented in the UK on 1 January 2014 o BGCS Guidelines Committee endometrial cancer guidelines o Sudha Sundar • Sudha reported on progress with the endometrial cancer guidelines., which should be ready for publication shortly. Ovarian and vulval guidelines will then be developed, with collaboration with the BGCS guidelines group o Cervix Cancer imaging guidelines o Ken Lim • The group confirmed RCOG guidelines for routine use of PET scans in cervical cancer o Peer Review update o Sue Knights for James Heasman o BGCS update o Phillip Rolland for Raj Naik Gynae Oncology Surgical Group update o Stephen Dobbs o BGCS Training Subcommittee & Subspecialty Training update o Andy Nordin for Raj Naik o National Forum of Gynae Oncology Nurses update o Tracie Miles • Tracie updated the group on the activities of the NFGON Routine BRACA testing for ovarian cancer o Andy Nordin for Jonathan Lederman / Tim Mould • Andy reported on discussions to introduce routine BRCA testing for all women with serous & endometrioid ovarian cancers. 17% of these patients are positive, and their disease is more likely to be sensitive to PARP inhibitors which will become available shortly. o Analgesia for outpatient hysteroscopy o Andy Nordin & Debbie Vince (user representative) • Andy introduced Debbie, who is the new uterine cancer user representative on the NCIN SSCRG and BGCS commissioning groups. Debbie presented an argument for analgesia information and choice for women undergoing hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy On call arrangements for gynae cancer centres o Andy Nordin • Andy discussed a local proposal to withdraw a formal gynae oncology oncall rota. A show of hands illustrated that the vast majority of centres have a formal rota of gynaecological oncologists on call at least to cover theatre nights. It was agreed that commissioning specifications should require robust on-call and emergency arrangements for patient care. Further work with the NCIN SSCRG clinicians to interpret the data will be performed for a NCIN publication.
