CNCE Sailing programme 2015 Aegean Sea islands cruise, 18 July – 1 August 2015 We propose a two-week cruise out of Alimos marina near Athens, touring the Cyclades islands in a clockwise direction and reaching the Argosaronic coast on the way back. Those unable to participate in the whole cruise will have the possibility to join/disembark at Amorgos or Ios. Our tentative schedule is as follows: Date Itinerary Distance Saturday, 18 July Alimos marina – Cape Sounion (offshore anchorage) 25 NM Sunday, 19 July Sounion – Merihas/Loutra Kythnos 24 NM Monday, 20 July Kythnos – Paros (Naousa harbour) 50 NM Tuesday, 21 July to Tuesday, 28 July Touring the islands in the vicinity and south of Naxos: Donousa, Ano Koufonisi, Schinoussa, Iraklia, Amorgos and Ios – Wednesday, 29 July Despotiko/Antiparos – Serifos (harbour) 30 NM Thursday, 30 July Serifos – Poros (harbour) 60 NM Friday, 31 July Poros – Alimos marina 25 NM The schedule will be arranged so that each day we normally sail no more than 6 hours, unless the crew decides to further enjoy by staying longer out at sea. There will be no night passages. It is possible that an early morning departure will be necessary in order to avoid strong and gusty (meltemi) winds at the open sea. Stops for swimming and excursions on firm land are foreseen. We will charter two superb 4-cabin yachts, both fully equipped with bimini, spray hood, bow thruster, GPS + plotter, dinghy with OB motor, autopilot and iTunes music player, the very same we had in the course of the Cyclades 1014 cruise: the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 439 "ESPERANZA" and the Beneteau Oceanis 45 "MONTE CRISTO". The two crews will sail in tandem, i.e. along the same itinerary and following a common program on land, while on board each skipper will act in full independence. It will be possible to join only for a particular section of the proposed route. However, priority will be given to those wishing to participate in the entire cruise. No sailing experience is required, but crew with the appropriate qualifications and those interested will be invited to occasionally skipper/co-skipper the yacht and/or serve at the helm and/or follow a navigation training course on board. People normally suffering from seasickness are kindly asked to abstain. Participation in the charter fee is fixed at 60 € per day and person. Appropriate arrangements will be made for sharing a cabin if necessary. Please note that the charter starts on Saturday (noon) 18 July and ends on Saturday (morning) 1 August. We intend to sail off the soonest possible upon embarkation (18/07/2015) and the yacht has to be back at Alimos marina the night of 31/07/2015. This is a leisure, not a sports cruise. Where a decent tavern is available, lunch and particularly dining will take place on shore. The crew in the galley will only prepare light meals, breakfast and drinks. The corresponding provisions, as well as harbour fees, fuel and water are paid extra, shared equally among those on board, skipper included.
