FRONDA is a non-profit organization, aiming at promoting artistic
discipline, encouraging production, research, training, exchange and
dissemination of contemporary art.
FRONDA is a self-managed and independent cultural entity working in
collaboration with various organizations and institutions in Mexico since
2010.
We are interested in interdisciplinary and collaborative processes and
practices and offer opportunities for artist residencies outside Mexico City.
FRONDA creates bonds between artists, location, population, geographic
space and memory through community directed activities in rural and
urban areas. FRONDA‘s home is the city of Pachuca, in the state of Hidalgo,
Mexico.
During 2015, FRONDA will hold it‘s bicultural encounter in Pachuca city
and the beautiful town of Real del Monte, in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico.

SiMBIOSiS SyMBiOSiS the MEXICO-CANADA Residency
The Residency fosters the artistic exchange between Mexico and Canada.
Among the primary goals of the residence are to generate crossing
disciplines in the arts and other areas of knowledge, experimentation,
collaborative processes and links with the local community.
FRONDA invites artists interested in crossing of disciplines, to submit
applications to participate in this residence which belongs to the
Encounter Symbiosis Symbiosis 2015.
6 Interdisciplinary artists will be eligible for an 8-week Residency
3 Mexican artists + 3 Canadian artists
INTEGRATION theme for this 2015 Residency.
This MEXICO-CANADA Residency is based on a collaborative spirit and
seeks participants who are fully interested and commited to working
within the group collective.
We encourage successful applicants to adopt an open and flexible
attitude.
PACHUCA and REAL del MONTE, Hidalgo / MEXICO
October 01 to November 29, 2015
WE PROVIDE
TRANSPORTATION | Mexico City Airport/Pachuca/Mexico City Airport
Artists are picked up at the Airport in Mexico City and are brought to Pachuca, Hidalgo where the
Project takes place – approximately 1 and a half hour dive- then at the end of the Project artists are
taken back to the Airport in Mexico City.
Artists are also transported for some activities related to the project such as conferences,
workshops, round tables, etc.
HOUSING AND WORK SPACE | We offer accommodation for 6 artists in single rooms in a hotel
owned by the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. Breakfast included. Housekeeping
service will be provided.

MEALS | Artist are covered everyday for a Mexican style breakfast. Breakfast is very abundant. We
don´t provide lunch or dinner.
STUDIO / We offer a basic workspace with worktables, chairs, Wi-Fi, and a kitchenette so the
artists can prepare their own meals if they wish to do that. Artist studio space is available on a
24-hour basis.
OTHERS | This program includes a catalog of the 2015 edition to be presented in 2016.

PUBLIC OUTREACH / FRONDA seeks interaction
between artists and the community. Participants
will be asked to give a presentation on their work
as well as a workshop for the general public. In
order to provide insight into their creative process,
the artists will be invited to participate in an open
studio for the local community.
ARTIST’S COMMITMENT in MEXICO
Attend the 8-week Residency
Give an artist presentation on his/her work
Lead a workshop (8 to 12 hours divided in two or three days)
Participate in the Open Studio at the end of the Residency
Provide a written feedback about his/her experience at the end of the
Residency
Authorize FRONDA to reproduce images of the artists and their work
produced during the Residency to be used for promotional purposes
(printed or electronic information). Where possible, please acknowledge
FRONDA in any publicity prepared in relation to the artist’s project,
including electronic, print or visual material
Obtain medical & travel insurance for the 8-week Residency
Insure materials, equipment and working tools required for the
production of work prior to the Residency. FRONDA is not responsible for
any damages, partial or complete loss.
We gratefully accept donations from participant artists in any discipline. If
you should choose to donate an artwork, whether developed during the
Residency or not, this artwork will become part of FRONDA‘s collection.
Some artworks will be auctioned to raise funds for future projects.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All files must be sent within a compressed folder (zip) and labeled with artist’sname.
Please send the zip folder by any platform for transferring digital files on line as
wetransfer.com or similar, to: [email protected] | attention: application 2015
1 Personal information, including name, nationality, date of birth, sex, place of residence,
current occupation and date of application (.doc, pdf).
2 Current Resume, 4 pages max (.doc, pdf).
3 Letter of intention, with artistic and personal interest in this Residency (.doc, .pdf).
4 Give details of your interdisciplinary experience or interests about it (.doc, .pdf).
Note: the above 4 requirements could come just in one document (.doc, .pdf).
5 Artist Work / Portfolio
A Visual Artists:Photographers, painters, sculptors, printmakers, installation artists, etc.
must send 10 to 15 JPEG files of your work. JPEG files, 72 dpi, no larger than 1,700 pixels
in any direction. Slideshows and powerpoint presentations are not accepted. Each image
must be numbered sequentially and labeledwith applicant´s family name, for example:
GARCIA_01.jpg, GARCIA_02.jpg, etc.
B Performing and New Media Artists:Video, performance, sound, film, music,
experimental theater, interdisciplinary, multimedia artists, etc. must send 4 to 6 audio
and/or video samples of recent work. Each sample should not exceed 3 minutes. Each
file must be numbered sequentially and labeled with the applicant´s family name, for
example: GARCIA_01.avi, GARCIA_02.mp3, etc.
C Writers and Poets:Send 2 literary texts in .doc or .pdf files, that have been published in
printed orelectronic media; a writing sample of no more than 15 pages, preferably from
awork in progress, samples must be a .doc or .pdf file, Helvetica o Arial font,12 pts,1.5 line
spacing; also include 2 audio and/or video samples of interdisciplinary projects, or links
reflecting such work. Each sample must be numbered sequentiallyand labeled with the
applicant´s family name, for example: GARCIA_01.doc, GARCIA_02.avi, etc.
