Dr. Lillian Du University of Alberta Internal Medicine PGY-‐2 Email: [email protected] Program Liaison Delegate for Medical Having finished a year of residency, I am aware of the challenges residents often face during these years of our medical training. While residency can be an exciting time of transition and growth, it is also a time of uncertainty and difficulty. We are forced to juggle a multitude of obligations, manage the continually growing burden of responsibility in patient care, and find ways to strengthen our training, all while establishing some semblance of balance between work and life. I have experienced how rewarding residency can be, but I also know how difficulty it can be at times. I am eager to serve as a Medical Program Liaison Delegate to ensure that residents have the resources and support to succeed during this time of transition. If elected to be Medical Program Liaison Delegate, I intend on achieving the following goals: 1) Serve as a voice for residents, listening to their concerns and advocating on their behalf; 2) Work with the PARA Assembly to ensure accountability and transparency; and 3) Communicate with my peers to promote professional and personal well-‐being. Throughout medical school and my first year of residency, I have maintained an involvement in a number of projects. I served on the Medical Students Association Social Committee, maintained an involvement in the Academic Standings Committee, and helped to organize several fundraising events for the medical community. Each of these roles has helped me to establish a foundation for successful leadership, strengthen my skills in communication, and work effectively within a committee. I am eager to have the opportunity to use my experiences and skills to serve as an advocate for my colleagues and to find innovative ways to enrich the residency experience. Thank you for your consideration. Dr. Lillian Du
