Residency Showcase Information and Announcement

The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association is
holding its Annual Student Residency Showcase
during the PPA 2014 Annual Conference!
Date: Saturday, September 20, 2014
Time: 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m., Set-up Available at 11:00 a.m.
Location: Four Points by Sheraton Pittsburgh North Mars, PA
Come share information on your residency program with our student
attendees!
Held in conjunction with our 2014 Annual Conference, students have found the showcase very helpful, and informative in past years., especially as either an alternative to ASHP or in preparation for ASHP. In addition to
the students who register and attend the conference, any PPA student member may attend just the showcase at
no charge! For non-members there is a $20 fee.
As a showcase participant, you will receive a 6’ table on which to display information. Students will have time
to stop by and talk to you about your residency program. A printed program with information about your
program will also be provided to students and made available to all student members after the event. The cost
to participate in the showcase will once again be complimentary for any residency sites.

attendance!
“I have attended the PPA Residency Showcase for 2 years. I think this is a great platform for a program
to recruit within the state, particularly with 7 schools of applicants to draw from! Even though we feel
that our program is very comprehensive (offering both inpatient and ambulatory care experiences),
being located in a rural setting seems to be our biggest disadvantage. Therefore, any opportunity for us
to meet potential candidates is a must. I have attended showcases at national pharmacy meetings and
feel that this showcase is on par with those but not as overwhelming in terms of size and noise. I also
enjoy the opportunity to talk with students not just about to graduate to put the seed of a residency in
their future. I would highly recommend any program with a residency to attend this showcase.”

“The Pennsylvania Pharmacists’ Association Residency Showcase is a great venue for showcasing and promoting your institution’s residency program. For students who want to stay close to home after graduation,
this is a great opportunity for them to explore competitive programs in the state of Pennsylvania. As a new
practitioner, it was rewarding to help new graduates navigate their own career path and choose a residency
that is the right fit for them, whether it was a general post graduate year 1 (PGY1) program or a PGY2 with a
specific focus. For those who were undecided, the showcase is a chance for them to conduct more research
before the residency showcase at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting. I would highly encourage every program within Pennsylvania to participate!”
