Current Bulletin - Canton Baptist Temple

A WORD FROM OUR STAFF
Whether we like it or not, we live in a country and
world that is increasingly dominated by sports. The
Apostle Paul had a unique way of evangelizing by
being “all things to all men.” Church sports can play
such an important role in ministry today. People in
our society are obsessed with sports. It’s a tool the
church can use to reach out and make contact with
the world around us! I love church sports ministries
for three reasons:
Mr. Mike Schulze
High School/Sports Director
One - It is another aspect of our ministry that we can offer to our
own members here at CBT. The church really should be the hub of each
Christian family. By having our own sports ministries, we can build stronger
relationships and become much closer to each other as brothers and sisters in
Christ. Parents don’t have to choose whether to take their child to church on
a Wednesday night or a basketball practice. It is a ministry where devotions
from God’s Word are given at each practice or game.
CANTON BAPTIST TEMPLE
FUNERAL & SYMPATHY NOTES
Funeral services were conducted for:
Dortha Pritt, Friday, January 30,
11:00 am at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
Donald English, Wednesday, February 4,
12:00 pm at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral
Home.
Don Stoll, Friday, February 6, 11:30 am
in the Henniger Ministry Center.
Our sincere prayers & sympathy are
extended to:
Mary Phillips in the loss of her mother.
What an incredible opportunity to take a lesson from the Apostle Paul’s
playbook and be “all things to all people.” CBT currently offers four different
sports ministries. We have our men’s basketball league that plays on Friday
nights, our coed volleyball league that plays on Monday nights, our children’s
basketball league that plays on Saturday mornings, and our churches softball
team that begins each spring.
So come along with us, get involved, and please pray for CBT Sports!

Tower of Confusion
Two - Sports ministries are a great thing for us to offer to new families who
may be visiting here. We desire to have a well rounded family ministry here at
CBT that reaches out to the entire family. Many of the families who will visit
here seeking a new home church will be interested in what we have to offer
for their children in the area of sports.
Three - It is a great tool to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our
community. This past season we were able to see a young man come to
Christ through our children’s basketball league. Almost each and every
team, in whatever the sport may be, will have someone on that team who is
unchurched and unsaved. We encourage our members who are a part of those
teams to build relationships with those who need the Lord and invite them to
attend our church.
The R Team
is scheduled
for this Tuesday and Saturday’s outreach.
If you are not signed up yet
and would like to be a part of
this outreach ministry, please
contact Rev. Ben Jennings at
ext. 156.

SUSAN HOFFMAN
(Canada)
Looking back over 2014, I have much
to be thankful for. I Thessalonians 1:3
sums it up very well. As I read of Paul
remembering the Thessalonians, it
reminds me of your work of faith and
labor of love as well. I am blessed
to be in partnership with you, and I
want to thank you for your continued
prayers and support. I had the privilege
of spending a week in Oxford House
during December. The church is still
meeting together and growing. My
desire was to encourage, minister and
serve them while I was there, but as
usual, I came away very encouraged,
ministered unto and served by them.
Please continue to pray for the church
in Oxford House as they continue to
grow closer to the Lord and to each
other, and that they will keep on being
a testimony in their community.
