VISIT THE HISTORY THEATRE & ST. PAUL GRILL
Thursday, Apr 2—Bus leaves at 8:45am
This past fall, the Rogers seniors won 25 free tickets to see
“The Debutante’s Ball” at the History Theatre on Thursday,
April 2, 2015! Enjoy a glimpse into the pageantry, customs,
and teenage restlessness that are all part of the Valentine’s
Ball and Presentation of Debutantes and Escorts. This fun
new coming-of-age play by local artist and former debutante
escort Eric “Pogi” Sumangil, follows six teens as they prepare for this special event and connect with their Filipino
heritage through stories, haranas (traditional Filipino love
songs), the waltz and even a bit of hip hop, while finding the
balance between tradition and assimilation, parental pressure and personal independence. After the show, we will
enjoy a delicious lunch at the St. Paul Grill (adjacent to the
St. Paul Hotel). You will have the choice of 5 lunch options:
landmark salad, black and blue burger, cashew chicken
sandwich, turkey pepper jack melt, or chicken pot pie. You
will choose your lunch option when making your reservation
and can get descriptions of the options at that time. Everyone gets their choice of beverage at the restaurant (coffee,
soda, iced tea, milk). The bus will depart from the Rogers
Community Room at 8:45am, the show begins at 10am,
lunch will be at 12:30pm and we should be heading back to
Rogers around 2pm. The cost of the trip which includes the
show, transportation and lunch is only $30. Please call Liz
at 763-428-0939 to reserve a spot by Mar 2.
VISIT THE FOSHAY MUSEUM, KEYS CAFÉ &
WELLS FARGO MUSEUM
Monday, March 9, 9:45 am-3:45 pm
Join us as we make our way to three
fascinating stops in Minneapolis. Our
first stop will be at the Foshay Tower,
the first skyscraper built in the state of
Minnesota and the tallest building in
Minneapolis from 1929-1971. We will
have an hour to explore the Foshay
museum and go up two flights of stairs
to the observation deck. The outside
observation deck gives you a remarkable view of downtown Minneapolis.
After exploring the museum, we will go down to the first
floor to enjoy a home-style lunch at Keys Café. Each guest
can choose an entrée off the menu up to $15 and a beverage, (included in the price of the trip). After lunch, we will
travel nearby to the Wells Fargo History Museum for an
hour long guided tour. We will step off the downtown skyway into a storied past to examine an authentic stagecoach
from 1863, see the glimmer of real gold nuggets and coins,
learn more about the gold rush and pony express, and
check out their interactive exhibits like sitting in a rocking
stagecoach. After the tour we will have an extra half hour to
look around the museum on our own and ask the museum
guide more questions. We will depart Minneapolis at 3pm to
