2015 USEF Developing Dressage Program Section I – U-25 Athletes In 2015 the Developing Dressage Program will expand its focus on FEI U-25 combinations with the goal of increasing exposure of talented U.S. combinations in European CDI competitions. During the early part of 2015 selectors will be attending U.S. CDI competitions in order to identify upcoming talented U-25 combinations. Identified combinations will be invited to training sessions lead by USEF Developing Dressage Coach Debbie McDonald. Identified combinations will then move forward in consideration for grants and European competition. Application Process: U-25 athletes interested in taking part in the 2015 Program must submit an Application of Intent by January 1, 2015 (first deadline) or January 30, 2015 (second and final deadline). Athletes will be asked to include their training and competition plans for the year, including the CDIs they plan to attend during the designated Observation Period. Observation Period: Athletes wishing to be considered for training sessions, grants and European competition must compete in U.S. CDI competition(s) taking place on the West coast January 1 – April 6, 2015 or on the East Coast January 1 – March 16, 2015. Selectors will observe the CDI Big Tour, Small Tour and U-25 classes. Athletes may also compete in National USEF Designated Qualifying Classes held in conjunction with CDI competitions for the USEF Young Adult ‘Brentina Cup’ and Markel/USEF Developing Horse Prix St. Georges and Grand Prix Dressage National Championships. Athletes competing in CDI classes will be given observation priority over athletes in the national classes. Training Sessions: One training session on each coast will be held. These sessions will be led by USEF Developing Dressage Coach Debbie McDonald. These sessions will be by invitation only; selectors will take into account 2015 competition performance and results and may also consider 2014 competition performance and results. The locations and dates of the training sessions will be announced at a later date. Grants and European Competitions: Following the conclusion of the training sessions Mrs. McDonald, in consultation with the selectors, will identify combinations to receive European competition grants. The USEF Dressage High Performance Committee will have final approval of all grants. It is expected that the designated European competitions will take place during June and July. Competitions will be named at a later date. Section II – Developing Combinations, All Divisions In 2015 the Developing Dressage Program will increase efforts to build depth of upcoming talented combinations at the CDI Small Tour, CDI U-25 and USEF Developing Prix St. Georges and Grand Prix levels through training opportunities with USEF Developing Coach, Debbie McDonald. These efforts will focus on talented combinations who may not intend to apply for the Developing U-25 Program or the 2015 Pan American Games U.S. Dressage Team. Spring/Summer Training Sessions One training session will be held on each coast following the conclusion of the Observation Period. These sessions will be led by Mrs. McDonald. Application Process: Athletes wishing to be considered for a spring/summer training sessions must submit an Application of Intent by January 1, 2015 (first deadline) or January 30, 2015 (second and final deadline). Athletes will be asked to include their training and competition plans for the year. Observation Period: Athletes wishing to be considered for training sessions must compete in U.S. CDI competition(s) taking place on the West coast January 1 – April 30, 2015 or on the East Coast January 1 – March 30, 2015. Selectors will observe the CDI Small Tour and U-25 classes. Summer/Fall Training Sessions One training session will be held on each coast during the summer/fall months. These sessions will be led by USEF Developing Dressage Coach Debbie McDonald. These sessions will be open to athletes who participated in the 2015 U-25 program or in spring/summer training sessions. Additionally, applications will be accepted from those who have not previously participated in the program. Application Process: Athletes wishing to be considered for a summer/fall training sessions must submit an Application of Intent by July 1, 2015. Athletes will be asked to include a recent video and competition results from 2015.
