Director’s Note
The SPIPS Bulletin has completed 3 volumes and the Volume 4, issue
1 is about to be released. On this occasion I would request you to look
back at an year full of activity at SPIPS. During 2013, SPIPS achieved
several milestones, which were captured by the SPIPS Bulletin. DIA
student chapter was inaugurated at SPIPS and many industrial leaders
visited and addressed students on this platform. SPIPS participated in
the CII AP Chapter and Life Sciences industry initiative, Project
Pragnya, through which resource persons from Industry visited the institute and provided an insight into GxPs to students and faculty. Different SPIPS departments organized one day seminars in various technical areas and SPIPS organized two Pharmacy Practice advanced learning modules very
successfully in which resource persons from the USA have offered training sessions in
pharmacy practice areas. SPIPS students participated in several events held in SPIPS as
well as at other institutes and won prizes in academic, research and sporting events and
held the SPIPS flag flying very high. On the community pharmacy front, SPIPS Chapter of
IPA-SF held events in several local schools to increase the awareness of TB and its prevention among school children and made them a partner in the mission “Stop TB in my life
time”. In addition to all these several SPIPS faculty members achieved distinctions that
are note worthy, firstly SPIPS principal Dr. Suresh Bandari received APP Young Scientist
award-2013 and the year ended with SPIPS Director, receiving the eminent pharmacist2013 award in 65th IPC in New Delhi. Several scientific papers by SPIPS students and faculty were presented in conferences with in the country and abroad during 2013. All these
events were very well captured and published by SPIPS Bulletin. The bulletin was circulated to several academicians and industry personnel and many messages were received
complementing the SPIPS Bulletin.
The volume 4 of SPIPS Bulletin I am sure will continue to represent all SPIPS activities
and achievements during 2014. However I would like this bulletin to graduate from being
a news bulletin to a magazine with highly informative articles and features. To achieve
this we need contributions from faculty and students from both the B. Pharm, M. Pharm
and Pharm. D. streams. I commend the efforts of the editor and editorial team during
2013 and wish all the best to them to bring out another volume of SPIPS Bulletin with
more features and attractions.
