OBJECTIVES
TARGET AUDIENCE
This two half-day course is intended for diplomats taking part
in the sessions of the Human Rights Council in order to
enhance their knowledge and understanding of women’s
human rights and gender issues.
This course is intended for diplomats of permanent missions
in Geneva whose responsibilities include human rights and
who wish to enhance their knowledge and understanding of
women’s human rights and gender issues.

Presenting an overview of the existing legal and policy
framework, core guiding principles and the
mechanisms pertaining to women’s human rights and
gender equality
Analysing the strength and weaknesses of existing
legal instruments and explore progress and challenges
in their implementation
Recalling key gender concepts and applying practical
tools to integrate a gender perspective in the work of
the Council

per mission will be invited to take part in the course. As space

The course will combine analytical and applied sessions with
participatory learning tools, such as case studies and
discussions, and will be taught by professional pratictionners.
Some pre-course recommended readings will be shared prior
to the course.
CERTIFICATION
Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate
of attendance from the Graduate Institute.
