Research assistant (PhD student, 75%) in satellite geodesy
This project is a collaboration with a consortium of seven universities and research institutes, two
internationally active German business partners as well as several regional decision makers. Its
overall objective is to develop methods and tools for the transfer of regionalized global data and
models into practical water resources management, especially for semi-arid region.
Recently, spaceborne geodetic sensors (e.g. GRACE and altimetry missions) have established
themselves as valuable hydrological monitoring tools. However, the application of geodetic
sensors for practical hydrological use has its limitations. The main task of GIS within this project is
to cope with the challenges of altimetry, GRACE and GRACE-FO for practical use in semi-arid
regions.
