Stellen Angebot Titel Research assistant (PhD student, 75%) in satellite geodesy Einsatzort Geschwister-Scholl-Str. 24D 70174 Stuttgart Deutschland Beschreibung For the BMBF-funded project “Saisonales Wasserressourcen-Management in Trockenregionen: Praxistransfer regionalisierter globaler Informationen (SaWaM) ” within the research intiative “Globale Ressource Wasser (GROW) ”, the Institute of Geodesy (GIS), University of Stuttgart, invites applications for a Research assistant (PhD student, 75%) in satellite geodesy This project is a collaboration with a consortium of seven universities and research institutes, two internationally active German business partners as well as several regional decision makers. Its overall objective is to develop methods and tools for the transfer of regionalized global data and models into practical water resources management, especially for semi-arid region. Recently, spaceborne geodetic sensors (e.g. GRACE and altimetry missions) have established themselves as valuable hydrological monitoring tools. However, the application of geodetic sensors for practical hydrological use has its limitations. The main task of GIS within this project is to cope with the challenges of altimetry, GRACE and GRACE-FO for practical use in semi-arid regions. The position is fixed for a term of 3 years. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The preferred starting date is 1st April 2017. Salary will be paid in accordance with the German TVöD, salary group E13 (75%). The successful candidate will be employed at the University of Stuttgart, Institute of Geodesy. The University of Stuttgart aims to increase the number of female employees.
