PREVIEW LADIES` DOWNHILL – SATURDAY 14 JAN 2017

PREVIEW LADIES' DOWNHILL – SATURDAY 14 JAN 2017
Štuhec aiming for rare fourth win in a row
> Ilka Štuhec won the first three downhill races of the season, two in
Lake Louise and one in Val d'Isère, her first ever World Cup victories.
> The only other women who won the first four World Cup downhill
races of a season are Lindsey Vonn (2009/10) and Annemarie MoserPröll (1972/73 and 1978/79).
> Vonn is also the only woman in the past 20 years to win four
successive World Cup downhill races as she won six in a row between
March 2009 and January 2010.
> Štuhec can equal Tina Maze on four World Cup wins in the downhill,
most for a Slovenian woman.
> Štuhec also won the alpine combined in Val d'Isère. Only Maze (26),
Spela Pretnar (6) and Urska Hrovat (5) have won more World Cup
races in total for Slovenia than Štuhec (4).
> All four of Štuhec's podium finishes in World Cup races have been
victories, the best perfect record by a man or woman.
Vonn eyeing return after injury woes
> Lindsey Vonn could make her return to competition after missing the
start of the season due to an arm injury.
> Vonn has won a ladies' record 76 World Cup races. Only one man
has won more as Ingemar Stenmark won 86.
> Vonn's 76 race-win tally consists of 38 in downhill, 27 in super-G, five in
alpine combined, four in giant slalom and two in slalom.
> Her 38 race wins in downhill and 27 wins in super-G are most among
men and women.
> A year ago, Vonn tied the all-time record for World Cup downhill wins
(then 36) after her win in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, which was held by
Annemarie Moser-Pröll.
> In her last nine World Cup downhill races, Vonn claimed six victories,
finished second once and failed to finish twice.
> Vonn has only won more downhill races in Canada (14) than in
Austria (6). She has also won six times in Italy in this discipline.
Information provided by
> Vonn (32 years, 88 days on Saturday) can become the third-oldest
woman to win a World Cup downhill race after Elisabeth Görgl (32-325)
in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee in 2014 and Michaela Dorfmeister (32-302)
in St. Moritz in 2006.
Other contenders

race – 3. Sofia Goggia, 4. Nadia Fanchini, 5. Johanna Schnarf and 6.
Elena Fanchini.

race as she won in La Thuile last February, her only win in this
discipline to date. Older sister Elena (2) and Isolde Kostner (12) are the
only Italian women with multiple downhill wins.
> Only Mikaela Shiffrin (G7-S1-B1) has finished on the podium more often
this World Cup season (all disciplines) than Sofia Goggia (1st 0, 2nd 3, 3rd
4).

without winning is held by Tina Maze – 10 in 2011/12 (2nd 6, 3rd 4).
> Lara Gut has won six World Cup downhill races, joint-fifth among
Swiss women alongside Chantal Bournissen. Doris De Agostini is in
fourth place with eight downhill wins.
> Kajsa Kling has claimed two top-six finishes in downhill this season,
both in Lake Louise (3rd and 5th). Her third-place finish was her best
result in a World Cup downhill race to date.

Pärson (6) and Pernilla Wiberg (2).
