Re: Bloemfontein Open Chess Tournament
Chess Free State has in the past few months been embarking on various chess related
events in an attempt to develop the game. This year, our principal aim is popularising
the game of Chess in the Mangaung area and preparing our children for forthcoming
national tournaments.
Therefore we would like to take this opportunity to invite yourself, your school or
club to the first annual Bloemfontein Open Chess Tournament.
The arrangements are as follows:
• Date: 28 February – 01 March 2014
• Venue:
Central University of Technology (CUT)
Bloemfontein Campus, Gym Hall
• Entry Fees: Section A: R 150.00 per player
Section B: R 100.00 per player
Section C: R 50.00 per player
(Discount will be given to groups of 5 players or more, school group qualify for up
to 50% of entry fees!!!)
The Type Of Tournament: Two-day 60’+5” [Sixty minutes per player per game
with 5 seconds increments from move 1] Six (6) Rounds Swiss for older players
(SECTION A & B)
One-day Five (5) Rounds for children (SECTIONS C)

1. Sections
Section A
Open to ANY PLAYER regardless of age or rating
Entry Fee R 150.00
Section B
Open to any player with a CHESSA rating lower than 1400 or older than 18 years
Entry Fee R 100.00
Section C
Open to any PRIMARY SCHOOL going player aged below 12
Entry Fee R 50.00
GROUP ENTRIES:
• School groups of 6 (six) players or more qualify for up to 50% reduction
of entry fees.
• Clubs and other groups of 5 (five) players or more qualify for up to 20%
discount.
• To claim your discount, call 083 4877 929 before the 25th February. Please
register early to avoid disappointments!
2. Prizes
Only 1st Prize in A and B Section shall be guaranteed.
All other prizes dependent on number of entries received
