There is a game today in HR, and it is the Not It game. Among vendors, a company’s IT staff and the company’s
business users, everybody is Not It when it comes to data integration. Integration is kind of the badlands or no man’s
land of HR. Integration has to be done. It is ugly. It requires a lot of heavy lifting. It is important to have deep subject
matter expertise to get integration done right, and no one wants to do it.
When we started CloudMills, we had a very noble calling for organizations to let us solve this darn integration problem
once and for all. We wanted to take on the work that nobody wanted and to go into no man's land. We wanted to build an
engine to allow HR to take that seat at the table that allows them to be a strategic partner into the future. We wanted to
solve the problem now and let the dream come true. That is what CloudMills does.
A practical example of how CloudMills works is when a customer has multiple systems and vendors, and an IT
department that is up to its ears in projects. CloudMills comes in and performs a data model analysis of all the systems.
We determine which system is the system of record for each data element, then we assign it to that system of record and
the process that is driven in that system of records gets populated in all the other systems. Now the customer has
integration. They have things in sync. Our metadata model comes in to one place for truth and then sends it back out to
all the systems. That is how CloudMills works. It is not very exciting from a methodology standpoint. We are not setting
the world on fire with something new. We are solving a very old, very crude problem that exists in the industry and we do
it simply by blocking and tackling the data and the processes, yielding multiple systems and clean data.
