 When thinking about who is obsessed with
good health, it is quickly understood not to
be the poor.

 Whereas good health tends not to be noticed, 健康状態
が良子のときは気づかれないが
 Bad health reminds people of how diseases and
injuries can lead to death 〜に〜を思い起こさせる
 For people who can afford to do so,
そうする為の金銭的に余裕の有る人たちにとって

 Remain in physical prime (身体の）花盛りのままでいる
 To do so そのようにする為に
 a modicum of success わずかな成功

 The better the chances are that/ life will be not only
more comfortable/ but also lengthier and more
enjoyable.
 Not eager to relinquish 敢えて断念しようとしたがらない
 The means of achieving this/ is /through good health.
良好な健康状態をとおして（介して）である
