Abstract :
From a viewpoint of the energy security and Green House Gas (GHG) issues, it has been
demanded to improve the fuel economy and to reduce CO2 emission of automobiles. This
requirement is one of the highest targets in the world. To solve these problems, most of
auto manufactures have been actively working on the improvement of engine efficiency
and the development of new combustion technology. This presentation introduces the
recent stringent emission regulations for automobiles and explains the trend of
strategies for developing a high efficient power train including a gasoline and diesel
engine technologies. In addition, I would like to provide the information about CO2
reduction methods.
