As early as the 1990s, years before Kunsthaus Bregenz had
even been built, its founding Director Edelbert Köb and
curator Rudolf Sagmeister had started assembling a
collection of contemporary Austrian art. Since then it has
been continually supplemented by gifts and acquisitions.
For the new exhibition at the KUB Collection Showcase
Heimo Zobernig has been invited to select works from the
KUB Collection. The exhibition jointly curated by Heimo
Zobernig, Thomas D. Trummer, and Rudolf Sagmeister
focuses on Austrian painting and sculpture. The display
includes works by Erwin Bohatsch, Herbert Brandl, Elke
Krystufek, Maria Lassnig, Ruth Schnell, Franz West, and
Heimo Zobernig, amongst others.

during a Guided Tour
The exhibition opens on Thursday, November 26, at which
Heimo Zobernig will be present. Prior to the opening there
will be a unique opportunity to gain insights into the
Austrian artist’s work. At 5 pm Heimo Zobernig will be
conducting a guided tour through his exhibition at KUB
together with Yilmaz Dziewior (Director Museum Ludwig,
Cologne; Venice Biennale Commissioner 2015).

The video portraits were produced from 1992 by museum
in progress, Vienna, in collaboration with Peter Kogler, and
from 1996 Kunsthaus Bregenz cooperated in the creation of
15 new videos for the exhibition KünstlerInnen at
Kunsthaus Bregenz in 1997. All the conversations were
based on a clear organizational and aesthetic structure,
creating a common framework for the series. The artists
selected the person they would conduct the conversation
with themselves. In the video however it is only the artist
that is visible against a background color that they too had
selected, whilst their interlocutor remains off camera.
