Supervisor: Prof. Felix Otto 2012 – 2014 Master of Science - Mathematics, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn. 2009 – 2012 Bachelor of Science - Mathematics, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, Bonn. Master’s Thesis title Γ-Equivalence for Nonlinear Plate Theories supervisor Prof. Dr. Sergio Conti, Institute for Applied Mathematics abstract The aim of the thesis is to rigorously justify the heuristic decomposition of the elasitc energy of a three dimensional thin body into a stretching and a bending term in the context of nonlinear elasticity. Such a decomposition is one of the key features of the Föppl-von-Kármán plate theories frequently used by physicists and engineers. For 2D thin bodies I give a full proof in the case that the energy per unit thickness scales like hα , 0 ≤ α ≤ 2, where h is the thickness of the body. For the more complicated case of 3D thin bodies I give some partial results. Bachelor’s Thesis title Fast Isometrische Immersionen von R2 nach R3 supervisor Prof. Dr. Sergio Conti, Institute for Applied Mathematics abstract I proved a quantitative version of the classical statement that sufficiently regular isometric immersions from R2 to R3 parametrize ruled surfaces. The main assumption on the immersion u is that ||DuT Du − 1||C 4 is small. Languages German native English fluent Teaching Experience WS 2010 Student Assistant, IAM, Bonn.
