(LED illuminates when reset.) 5 PEAK HOLD/→ button To be used for enteirng values, etc. at the time of setup, while used for holding the max. measured value at the time of measurement. 6 Battery box (2) pcs. of AA alkaline or manganese batteries are used exclusively. 1 2. How to measure For the display unit purchased as a part of the Dyna Force set, setup procedure is already completed on delivery. For the display unit purchased alone or to be used as a replacement, setup of the display unit is required, as rated capacity and output vary depending on measuring unit. Refer to "3. How to setup display unit" and follow the instructions. Neglecting to do so may lead to incorrect measurement. 2-1 Installation of pullstud Install a pullstud suitable for the machine to measure in the measuring device. For machining centers with MAS or JIS standard spindles, your existing pullstud can be used. However, for other standards such as DIN, ISO, CAT or ANSI, the pullstud exclusively designed for Dyna Foce is required. CAUTION ● Measured values may vary due to slight difference in length of each pullstud. In the case more stable measurement is required, always use the same piece of pullstud. ● If a pullstud is tightened too much, excessive load is applied to the measuring element. Hand-tight installation is recommended. 2-2 Connection between measuring device and display unit Connect the measuring decive to the display unit through an exclusive cable. Ensure power of the display unit is turned off. Display side (large) Measuring device side (small) 2-3 Power activation Select 【MEAS】 position, and all digits will appear on the display for (3) seconds. CAUTION MEAS STRAIN OFF ●【Do not use【STRAIN】mode, as it is for error diagnosis by manufacturer. In case operated in【STRAIN】mode, resetting is required as indicated in "3. How to setup display unit". ●If all digits blink, batteries are running short and should be replaced. 2-4 Zero reset Keep pushing ZERO until [- - - - ] is indicated and red LED illuminates. [0] is indicated and zero reset is completed. CAUTION 2 Make sure LED is illuminating before moving on to the next step. PEAK HOLD ZERO SET 2-5 Installation to machine spindle Install the measuring device in the machine spindle manually. Measured drawing force is indicated on the display unit. Unit is kN. (10kN = 1,020kgf) "oL/-oL" or "Ad/-Ad" indication represents input overshoot. Refer to the TABLE-1 shown below and make a measurement once again. If you still have trouble, contact BIG agent. CAUTION ● Clean tapers of both machine spindle and measuring device before installation. ● Care should be taken not to catch a finger in the spindle when installing the measuring device. Factor and solution of input overshoot Factor Solution Wrong pullstud Replace the pullstud with a correct one. Dirt stuck between tapers Clean tapers. Error in sensitivity calibration Refer to "3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry" and configure the setting. Measured in STRAIN mode Select 【MEAS】 mode. 2-6 Peak-hold measurement Max. measured value is maintained and displayed. 1. After zero resetting, push the PEAK HOLD . All the decimal points, except for the one appears at the actual position, blink to indicate peak-hold measurement is in progress. 2. Install the measuring device in the machine spindle and make a measurement. By pushing PEAK HOLD again, peak hold mode is ended and the current input value is indicated. 2-7 End of measurement 1. Select 【OFF】 position of the display unit. All the previous setup are kept even the power is turned off. ● Subsequent measurement by using the same measuring device No setup is required, as all the previous setup are not erased even the power is turned off or batteries are replaced. ● Subsequest measurement by using another measuring device Sensitivity calibration entry is required for both the rated capacity and output, as they vary depending on the measuring device. Refer to "3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry" and configure the setting. 2-8 Replacement of batteries Open the battery box by sliding the cover. (2) pcs. of AA alkaline or manganese batteries are used exclusively. 3 3. How to setup display unit Operating precautions To prevent incorrect operation, buttons are designed to respond to slow and secure push only. 3-1 Setup of display digit Unit of displayed values is kN. (eg.: 10kN = 1020kgf) Number of decimal places is customizable. 《Operation procedure》 1. Select 【MEAS】 position and turn on the power. 2. Push SET for (3) seconds or more, and the display unit enters setup mode and [F-1] is indicated. 3. Push → , and [F-1], [F-2], [F-3], [F-4], [F-5], [F-7], [F-10]and[F-11]are indicated in sequence. 4. Push SET while confirming [F-3] is indicated. Rated output indicated on the inspection sheet and name plate is displayed. 5. Ensure the correct figure of rated output is dispalyed, and push SET . CAUTION If wrong figure is indicated, perform "3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry". Value of the rated capacity indicated on the inspection sheet and name plate appears on the display. 6. Ensure the correct rated capacity is dispalyed, and push SET . CAUTION ※ Example If wrong figure is indicated, perform "3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry". After decimal point starts blinking, push ↑ and move the decimal point to the desired position. When the bottom bar of 0 at the last digit blinks, setup without desimal point is selected. 8. Push SET and set the decimal point. [F-3] is indicated. 9. Push ↑ and complete the setup. 3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry For the display unit purchased as a part of the Dyna Force set, setup procedure is already completed on delivery. Therefore, setup is not required unless the original pair is changed. For the display unit purchased alone or to be used as a replacement, setup of the display unit is required, as rated capacity and output vary depending on measuring unit. Follow the instructions shown on the next page for the setup. Neglecting to do so may lead to incorrect measurement. 4 《Operating procedure》 1. Select 【MEAS】 position and turn on the power. 2. Push SET for (3) seconds or more, and the display unit enters setup mode and [F-1] is indicated. 3. Push → , and [F-1], [F-2], [F-3], [F-4], [F-5], [F-7], [F-10]and[F-11]are indicated in sequence. 4. Push SET while confirming [F-3] is indicated. 5. Enter the rated output indicated on the inspection sheet and name plate. Push → and select the digit to enter. Change the value by pushing ↑ . 6. Ensure the correct rated value is dispalyed, and push SET to complete the setup of the rated output. Start setup of the rated capacity by taking the following procedures. 7. Enter the rated capacity indicated on the inspection sheet and name plate. Select the digit to enter by pushing → , and change the value with ↑ button. Number of digits to be displayed should be considered. Example: Mesuring unit with 30kN rated capacity To display without decimals → Enter [0030] To display to the 1st decimal place → Enter [0300] To display to the 2nd decimal place → Enter [3000] Ignore the decimal point when entering. 8. Push SET and complete the setup of the rated capacity. Start setup of the decimal point. 9. Push ↑ and move the decimal point to the desired position that was determined in the previous section. Example Enter [0030] → [0030] without decimal point (When the bottom bar of 0 at the last digit blinks, display without decimal point is selected.) Enter [0300] → [030.0] Enter [3000] → [30.00] 10. Push SET and complete the position of the decimal point. If all the setups are completed correctly, [F-3] is indicated. If [Err] is displayed, go through the whole setup process again. 11. Push ↑ and complete the setup procedure. CAUTION If there is an error in these setups, correct measurement is not achieved. All the previous setups are not erased even the power is turned off. Therefore, resetting is not required unless another mesuring device is used. 5 3. How to setup display unit 3-3 Setup of step increments Step increment of the minimum digit is selectable among 1, 2 and 5. If the min. digit changes too quick, select larger step increment and ease reading. 《Operating procedure》 1. Select 【MEAS】 position and turn on the power. 2. Push SET for (3) seconds or more, and the display unit enters setup mode and [F-1] is indicated. 3. Push → , and [F-1], [F-2], [F-3], [F-4], [F-5], [F-7], [F-10]and[F-11]are indicated in sequence. 4. Push SET while confirming [F-4] is indicated. 5. Push ↑ , and [1], [2] and [5] are indicated in sequence. 6. Push SET while desired step increment is indicated. [F-4] is indicated. Push ↑ and complete the setup. 3-4 Setup of auto-power-off Avoids waste of electricity in case turning off the power is forgotten. 《Operating procedure》 1. Select 【MEAS】 position and turn on the power. 2. Push SET for (3) seconds or more, and the display unit enters setup mode and [F-1] is indicated. 3. Push → , and [F-1], [F-2], [F-3], [F-4], [F-5], [F-7], [F-10]and[F-11]are indicated in sequence. 4. Push SET while confirming [F-5] is indicated. 2-digit number is displayed. 5. Enter the time (minute) to power off. Push → to select the digit to enter, and push ↑ to change the number. Any number is selectable from 1 upto 99 minutes by 1 increment. [ 00] represents setup wihout auto-power-off. 6. Push SET and determine the time of auto-power-off. 7. [F-5] is displayed. Press ↑ and complete the setup. 6 4. CAUTIONS ●Measured values may vary due to slight difference in length of each pullstud. In the case more stable measurement is required, always use the same piece of pullstud. ●If a pullstud is tightened too much, excessive load is applied to the measuring element. Hand-tight installation is recommended. ●Dyna Force is not capable of automatic tool change. Care should be taken not to catch your finger in the spindle when installing the measuring device. ●Never rotate the machine spindle. ●Keep the measuring device and display unit dry, as they are not water resistant. ●Measuring device: Temperature compensation range: 0℃ to 60℃ Waterproof performance: Not more than drip-proof Display unit: Operating temperature: -5℃ to 40℃ Operating humidity: 20 to 85%RH (Condensation should be avoided.) Never exceed the above ranges. ●Slide the power switch to either 【MEAS】 or 【OFF】 position completely. ●Ensure to turn off power after use. ●Replace both (2) AA batteries at the same time. ●Dyna Force is a precision instrument. Handle carefully and avoid any drop and excessive impact. Clean, provide rustproof treatment and store the equipments in the exclusive case after use. ●Never disassemble Dyna Force equipments, as they are precision instruments. Warranty is void and performance is worsened once disassembled. ●Remove batteries when stored in extended period. ●Stop use and consult with BIG agent for inspection or repair in case of any failure. Dyna Force is a measuring instrument. Periodic inspection and calibration are required. (Once a year as a guide, though it depends on frequency of use.) Calibration certificate and traceability chart are available at cost. Contact BIG agent. 7 5. Supplementary explanation 5-1 Description of display All lighting-up : When turned on, all light up for 3 seconds. All blinking : Low battery condition. Replace batteries. Position "a" blinking : Minus figure. "a" blinks even a number appears there simultaneously. 2 or all positions "b" blinking : Peak-hold measurement in process oL/-oL or Ad/-Ad : Input overshoot a b 5-2 Setup mode [F-1]:Preset mode Functions to select either distortion value or voltage value against distortion signal outputted from the inner sensor of the measuring device when calibrating sensitivity of the display unit. Dyna Force utilizes distortion value, which is more accurate. [F-1] setup by customers is not required. In case setup is changed, refer to "5-3 How to operate preset mode". [F-2]:Actual load calibration mode For calibration with load. This [F-2] should not be used. In case of wrong operation, refer to "3-2 Sensitivity calibration entry" for resetting. [F-3]:Sensitivity calibration entry mode For entering sensitivity calibration value into the measuring device, and for changing display digit. [F-4]:Step increment setup mode Step increment of the minimum digit is selectable among 1, 2 and 5. [F-5]:Auto-power-off mode Avoids waste of electricity in case turning off the power is forgotten. [F-7]: For manufacturer’s use only. In case of unexpected operation, enter the initial value “1100” and push the SET button. [F-10] : For manufacturer’s use only. In case of unexpected operation, enter the initial value “0” and push the SET button. [F-11] : For manufacturer’s use only. In case of unexpected operation, enter the initial value “0100” and push the SET button. 8 5-3 How to operate preset mode 1. Select 【MEAS】 and turn on the display unit. 2. Push SET for (3) seconds or more, and the display unit enters setup mode and [F-1] is indicated. 3. Push → , and [F-1], [F-2], [F-3], [F-4], [F-5], [F-7], [F-10]and[F-11]are indicated in sequence. 4. Push SET while confirming [F-1] is indicated. 5. [F-1] (display setup mode) starts and current setup blinks. 6. Each push of ↑ changes the displayed number with or without a decimal point alternately. (Neglect the displayed number itself.) 7. Push SET while the number without a decimal point is displayed, and [F-1] is displayed. 8. Push ↑ and complete the setup. All the previous setups are not erased even the power is turned off.
