講演要旨／Abstract The seminar covers an overview about the key technologies from 125+ years of automotive engineering,
motivations and challenges with regard to the advancements from today s driver assistance systems to future
automated and autonomous driving functions. In particular the levels of automation will be introduced and linked
to the future challenges, e.g. the performance of driver monitoring, hand-over / take back strategies, functional
safety, customer usage and comfort objectiﬁcation and road condition estimation while switching from manual
and automated driving levels. From engineering point of view the state of the art on drive and chassis actuators,
vehicle and environment sensing will be introduced as well as the requirements on redundancies in higher
automated systems. Potentials of Car2X communication for development of advanced automated driving
functions will be added.
Practical research examples will be shown on four applications:
1. Optimized longitudinal control using advanced prediction models and comfort objectiﬁcation methods.
2. Improved friction adaptive emergency brake system.
3. Estimation of ASIL level for self acceleration failure. and
4. Driver adaptive lane keeping strategies.
The seminar ends with an overview focused on current R&D activities and automated driving demonstrations of
European and US Car manufacturers.
