The candidate will be responsible for chemical analysis of soil traits (e.g. rhizosphere volatiles by GC-MS, root metabolites by HPLC) and experiments with herbivorous (incl. rhizophagous) insects. He / she will be hosted at the Department of Applied Zoology / Animal Ecology at the Institute of Biology of the FU Berlin (http://www.bcp.fuberlin.de/biologie/arbeitsgruppen/zoologie/ag_hilker/). He / she will closely co-work with other team members of BIBS and carry out the data analyses for the chemical analyses and insect experiments. Requirements: Completed Master or Diploma studies in biological sciences. Desirable: Knowledge of Chemical Ecology and Entomology; sound English language skills; excellent communication skills, preferably in English and German; experience in chemical analysis of volatiles; experience in GC-MS and HPLC analyses; chemoecological and entomological know-how; excellent statistical skills (preferably using R).
