Bouchard a quitté ses fonctions de président et chef de la direction de CoucheTard, poste qu’il occupait depuis février 1980. Il demeure actif au sein de l’entreprise à titre de fondateur et président exécutif du conseil. Ce nouveau rôle lui permet de se concentrer sur la croissance et le développement de Couche-Tard et d’agir comme mentor et coach pour son successeur et la prochaine génération de dirigeants. Au cours des trois dernières décennies, il s’est appliqué à la croissance de Couche-Tard entouré de ses plus proches collaborateurs et employés. Ensemble, ils ont su transformer l’image des magasins d’accommodation dans l’esprit des consommateurs. Entrepreneur émérite, M. Bouchard a prouvé qu’il faut croire au progrès constant, à l’innovation et au pouvoir de changer les choses. Il est devenu au fil des ans une source d’inspiration pour la relève. Son modèle d’affaires, qui se distincte de ses compétiteurs, est basé sur trois principes : une structure de gestion décentralisée efficace laquelle est axée sur la responsabilisation des équipes localement, une solide performance au niveau opérationnel ainsi qu’un focus sur les produits en magasins et le service à la clientèle. Ces principes permettent aux gestionnaires de l’entreprise une prise de décision réfléchie et basée sur la réalité locale partout où se retrouvent ses magasins et ce, afin de mieux répondre aux demandes de la clientèle. Au fil des années, M. Bouchard a su s’entourer d’une solide équipe de direction. Ensemble, ils ont instauré des façons de faire qui permettent à Couche-Tard d’être reconnue aujourd’hui comme étant un joueur redoutable dans l’industrie en matière de développement. Par ailleurs, sa discipline et sa patience ont fait que chacune des acquisitions de l’entreprise a été marquée de succès et ce, tant au niveau des résultats financiers que de l’intégration d’un équipe solide de gestionnaires et de la transmission de la culture d’entreprise. M. Bouchard siège au conseil d’administration de Groupe CGI. Il est impliqué depuis de nombreuses années dans un nombre impressionnant de campagnes de financement et activités philanthropiques. Il est né à Chicoutimi en 1949 et il a quatre enfants dont il est très fier. Les voyages, la pêche et le golf sont des activités qu’il affectionne. Il est également un amateur de vins, de musique classique et d’opéra. He remains active in Couche-Tard as Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board. This new role allows him to focus mainly on the growth and development of Couche-Tard and to serve as a mentor and coach to his successor and the next generation of leaders. Over the past three decades, he took part, along with his closest collaborators and staff members, in Couche-Tard’s growth. Together, they transformed the image of the convenience store in the minds of consumers. Accomplished entrepreneur, Mr. Bouchard proved that one must believe in constant improvement, innovation and the power to change things. Over the years he has developed a sense of leadership that continues to inspire. His business model seeks to actively differentiate itself from its competitors, based on three principles: decentralized management structure which encourages empowering of local teams, strong performance at the operational level as well as focus on in-store merchandise and customer service. These principles allow the managers the latitude for sound decision-making based on local reality at any place where its stores are located, in order to better meet the demands of the clientele. Over the years, Mr. Bouchard has surrounded himself with a strong management team. Together they have established methods that allow Couche-Tard to be recognized today as an aggressive player in its development within the industry. Moreover, discipline and patience worked for him and each of the company’s acquisitions were marked with success, in terms of financial results, integration of a solid management team and transmission of the corporate culture. Mr. Bouchard is member of the board of directors of CGI Group. He has been involved in an impressive number of fundraising events and campaigns for many years. He was born in Chicoutimi in 1949. He has four children of which he is very proud. He enjoys traveling, fishing and playing golf. He is also a wine amateur, and enjoys classical music and opera.
