JMSDF FAW-31/MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day 2015 Air Show
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan (January 16, 2015) – Marine Corps Air
Station Iwakuni takes pleasure in announcing the first-ever joint, JMSDF Fleet Air Wing 31-MCAS
Iwakuni, Friendship Day air show set for Sunday, May 3, 2015! The annual U.S.-Japan Friendship Day
event has been expanded this year to combine both the Fleet Air Wing 31 annual Open House and the
traditional MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day, in one exciting, fun-filled event that will include, for the first
time in several years, both static displays and aerial performances!
As members of the greater Iwakuni community, it continues to be our great pleasure to open our
gates to the gracious people of our host nation in order to share our two cultures during Japanese Golden
Week. Friendship Day 2015, in its redesigned joint format, promises to be an exciting, culturally enriching
event for all involved.
Joint planning and coordination is ongoing, and the joint team will make additional details available
as they are solidified. Until then, we request that the media withhold all queries seeking additional
information about this exciting bilateral event.

岩国基地発表（２０１５年１月１６日）- 米海兵隊岩国基地は、フレンドシップデー史上初となる共催
での基地開放イベント、海上自衛隊第３１航空群-海兵隊岩国航空基地のフレンドシップ（親善）デー航空シ
ョーを２０１５年５月３日（日）に開催することを、ここに喜びとともにお知らせいたします！毎年恒例の
日米親善デーはことし、規模を拡大します。海上自衛隊第３１航空群で毎年開かれている基地祭と、我々が長
年続けてきた米軍岩国基地のフレンドシップデーをひとつのイベントに統合し、数年ぶりに地上展示と空中で
のパフォーマンスの両方を含む、胸を躍らせ、楽しさに満ちたイベントとなります！
岩国という地元の一員として、日本のゴールデンウィークという連休期間中に、基地のゲートを開放し、
基地を受け入れてくださっている国の皆様と日米ふたつの文化を分かち合えることは、これまでも、そしてこ
れからも大いなる喜びです。しかもフレンドシップデー２０１５は、共同開催という新たな形での基地開放と
なり、皆様にわくわくするような、また文化的にも豊かな体験をもたらすことでしょう。
海上自衛隊との合同での企画、調整が現在進行中です。内容が固まり次第、日米合同で詳細をお知らせし
