2015 Instructions for CCW Qualifications The Firearms Safety Exam and Range Qualification for CCW applicants will be held at the Sheriff’s Training Facility “Duffy’s Town / A Range”, Camp Elliot, East Miramar, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego. The gate entrance is located at 6755 Kearny Villa Dr. which is South of the I-163/Kearny Villa Dr. off-ramp. Enter the facility at the Sentry Gate which is staffed by Marine Corps Military Police. You will need to show a valid picture I.D. If asked, advise that you are going to the Sheriff’s pistol range. Since you will be entering a U.S. Marine Corps Air Station you and your vehicle can be subject to search at anytime by military police upon entering or while on the base. Once through the gate please follow the directions on the enclosed map. Please adhere to all California laws pertaining to the carrying and/or transport of firearms and ammunition. Weapons shall be cased and unloaded. Ammunition needs to be separate from the weapon(s). Applicants reporting for initial or renewal qualifications must bring all of the weapons they wish to have listed on their permits to the range, for a total of no more than three weapons. Be prepared to qualify with all of the weapons. Range staff will determine which weapon(s) you will need to shoot. You will have two attempts to qualify with a weapon. Each attempt will require 15 rounds of ammunition. If your CCW permit is currently valid and you wish to add/subtract/change a weapon from your current list, you must bring the weapons to the range during normal CCW testing period. Testing will be conducted on Wednesdays between 8 am and 11:00am. Please arrive no later than 10:30 for processing.
