〔授業の概要・目的〕Course Overview
This course aims to provide interdisciplinary knowledge related to human security development in
Southeast Asia. Participant students will learn the ecological, social and cultural characteristics of the
region and study contemporary issues in the context of the dynamism of Southeast Asian societies, such
as economic disparities, poverty, environment degradation, conflicts, and so on. This course will be
offered in English.
〔授業計画と内容〕Contents of the course

One or two lectures will be given on each of the following topics:
■Introduction to Southeast Asian Studies
■The natural environment and development path of Southeast Asia
■The society and culture of Southeast Asia
■Economic development, poverty, and economic disparities
■Natural resource management and environmental degradation
■Conflict, governance, and peace-keeping
■Contemporary human security issues in Southeast Asia
