Author Bio
Natalia Doan studied Japanese
at Vassar College and
graduated with a double major
in English and Japanese. She
also studied at Ochanomizu
University in Tokyo and
Nanzan University in Nagoya.
She taught English to
elementary and middle school
students in Osaka, where she lived during the Tōhoku
earthquake. During her time in Japan, she also wrote for
an ex-pat magazine, modeled multiple collections for a
Kyoto fashion house and for a major women’s
magazine, and worked for a Japanese company. This fall,
she will pursue an MSc in Modern Japanese Studies at
the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.

How to Work, Travel, and Study in Japan『日本でどうしたらいい？「働く・観る・留学す
る」』は日本に興味がある外国の人のために日本を段階的に紹介する旅行ガイドブックです。
毎年、日本で働きたい、日本に留学したいという人の数は増えてい
ますが、それらの人々は日本へ行くときに時々いろいろな大変なこと
があります。例えば、英語の教師の場合、やる気があっても、日本の
学校の習慣をまだ知らないとか、日本語がまだ分からないので病院へ
行くことに不安があるなど、外国での一人暮らしは大変かもしれませ
ん。
ですから、この本は外国の人が日常困ったとき使えるヒントを勧めています。
日本で仕事の申し込み方、日本の洗濯機の使い方、温泉のマナーなど、観光ガイドブック
に入っていないアドバイスをシェアーしたいと思います。留学したい高校生（又、その生徒
の両親）、日本で教えたい大学生、キャリアアップしたい外国人の会社員にこの本を勧めし

筆者について
ヴァッサー大学で英語と日本語を専攻し、学部賞を得て
卒業。お茶の水女子大、南山大学に留学して日本語を
学ぶ。ヴァッサー大学卒業後、大阪で英語を教える。東
日本大震災復興支援のため行われる青少年交流事業で、
生徒の観光ツアー、ホームステイ、アメリカの高校体験
等々を引率する。旅行作家として、青少年向けに執筆活
動を行うほか、雑誌に寄稿している。
