De concentratie van verzamelaars van hedendaagse kunst in België is uniek. In een klein hoekje van Vlaanderen,
rond Kortrijk, niet ver van Rijssel, zitten een paar dozijn verzamelaars waarvan de een al gepassioneerder is dan
de ander. In deze regio, niet groter dan een zakdoek, vinden we briljante collecties op wereldformaat, maar te
weinig mensen hebben ze gezien. Soms komen de verzamelaars uit de textielgeschiedenis en verzamelen ze
al lang; het virus hebben ze allemaal te pakken. Ze zijn discreet, hartstochtelijk, wijs en wereldwijd bekend. Hun
collecties tonen een geschiedenis, vertellen het verhaal van hun leven en vormen een geweldig overzicht van de
kunst van de jaren 1970 tot vandaag.
Op uitnodiging van lille3000 stellen deze verzamelaars meer dan 130 werken van bijna 80 kunstenaars ter
beschikking. De tentoonstelling maakt deel uit van een bredere dynamiek, waarbij grote collecties worden
uitgenodigd hun werken te tonen.

The concentration of contemporary art collectors found in Belgium is unique. A small corner of Flanders around
Kortrijk and not far from Lille boasts a few dozen collectors each more passionate than the last. The collections
gathered in this tiny pocket of the planet are truly outstanding, but too few people have seen them. Sometimes
with a background in textiles and long-term collectors, they have all caught the bug. Discrete, passionate and
shrewd, they have worldwide reputations. Their collections speak to us of history and of their own lives while
providing a wonderful insight into the art of the 70s to today.
At the invitation of lille3000, these collectors are loaning over 130 works for an exhibition that follows in the
dynamic of invitations extended to large collections (François Pinault Foundation, Saatchi Gallery, CNAP and
Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery).

La concentration de collectionneurs d’artcontemporain en Belgique est unique. Dans un petit coin de Flandre
autour de Courtrai et non loin de Lille, il y a quelques dizaines de collectionneurs plus passionnés les uns que
les autres. Il y a dans ce mouchoir de poche à l’échelle planétaire des collections brillantes, mais trop peu de
gens les ont vues. Parfois issus de l’histoire du textile et collectionnant depuis longtemps, ils ont tous le virus.
Discrets, passionnés et avisés, ils sont célèbres dans le monde entier. Leurs collections racontent l’histoire, leur
vie, et sont un formidable aperçu de l’art des années 70 à aujourd’hui.
À l’invitation de lille3000, ces collectionneurs mettent à disposition plus de 130 oeuvres de près de 80 artistes
pour une exposition qui s’inscrit dans la dynamique des invitations faites aux grandes collections (François
Pinault Foundation, Saatchi Gallery, CNAP, Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin).
